ObituaryApr 19, 2000  OBITUARY: Priscilla Thomas Betz, 56, of 32 Margaret Street, Essex Center, VT, passed away peacefully on April 17, 2000, surrounded by family and friends. She had fought a courageous battle against a rare form of cancer.

She was born in Richford, VT on May 9, 1943, the daughter of Keith L. and Ethelyn (Guilmette) Thomas. She was brought up in Enosburg Falls where she attended local schools, graduating from Enosburg Falls High School in 1962. She later attended the Sheldon School of Cosmetology. In November of 1969, she married Paul Betz Sr.in Swanton and moved to Essex Center. Their son, Paul Jr., was born in 1970.

Priscilla devoted her life to caring for her son, and when he was diagnosed with cerebral palsy, she became an advocate for the disabled. To that end, she enrolled in the Pace program at Trinity College, graduating with a degree in social services. She was also interested in antiques. Not only did she sell her antiques in many shops across Vermont and on EBAY, she and her husband also owned Sugar Hill Antiques in Waterbury.

Priscilla loved the outdoors and participated in many sports. She bowled with the IBM Bowling Club. As a golfing enthusiast, she enjoyed hitting the links with her husband and their friends as a member of the Rocky Ridge Golf Club as well as a member of the West Bolton and Enosburg Falls Clubs. Fishing was another favorite sport of hers, which she shared with her husband and son. She especially loved fishing on Lake Carmi where her family had a camp.

She is survived by her husband, Paul Betz Sr. of Essex Center; their son, Paul Betz Jr. of South Burlington; her parents, Keith and Ethelyn Thomas of Enosburg Falls; her brother, Keith Thomas Jr. and his wife Francine of Essex Junction; nephews, Peter Thomas and Michael Powers; nieces, Michelle Powers, Becky Thompson and Wendy Sue Powers; her mother-in-law, Ruth Cope of Madison, Ind; her sister-in-law, Harriet Parton and her husband, Ron, of Madison, Ind. She was predeceased by her grandmother, Bertha Guilmette of Enosburg Falls.

Visiting hours will be held Saturday, April 22, 2000, from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the Spears Funeral Home on Dickinson Ave. in Enosburg Falls.

Due to the Easter holiday, the funeral service will be held Monday morning April 24, 2000, at 11 in St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Enosburg Falls with the Rev. Gerard LeClerc celebrating the Mass of Christian Burial. Interment will follow in St. John the Baptist Cemetery in Enosburg Falls.

For those who wish, contributions in her memory may be made to the American Cancer Society, Vermont Division, 13 Loomis Street, Montpelier, VT 05602.

Priscilla and her family want to thank all who loved, helped and cared for her. ObituaryNov 30, 1999  OBITUARY: DRACUT - Pauline I. (Gagnon) Wood, 59, of Dracut, a onetime restaurant waitress, died Sunday night, Nov. 28, in Saints Memorial Medical Center, Lowell, after a short illness.
Her husband, Vincent R. Wood, died in 1996. She leaves two sons; two daughters, including Debra Russell of Worcester; a sister; seven grandchildren; an uncle; an aunt; nephews and nieces; grandnephews and grandnieces; and three great-grandnieces. She was born in Lowell and lived many years in Dracut.
Mrs. Wood was once a waitress for several years at J.J. Boomer's, a local restaurant.
The funeral will be held Thursday, Dec. 2, from M.R. Laurin & Son Funeral Home, 295 Pawtucket St., Lowell, with a Mass at 10 a.m. in St. Mary Magdalen Church, Lakeview Avenue. Burial will be in St. Joseph's Cemetery, East Chelmsford. Calling hours are 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 1, at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Merrimack Valley Hospice, 360 Merrimack St, Building 9, Lawrence, MA 01841; or the American Cancer Society, 30 Speen St, Framingham, MA 01701.
