David was born in Groton, on April 26, 1962 a son of the late Warren W. and Carrie L. (Gyles) Whitney and has resided in Townsend for most of his life.

He was employed by Aubuchon Hardware and had worked at several of the area stores, most recently in Clinton.

David was a hardworking man who loved a good home improvement project, muscle cars, fishing and sharing all of his knowledge of Townsend history. He was a generous person who would ‘give the shirt off his back’ for anyone who needed it.

David loved his family more than life itself and cherished his times spent with them. He was the true meaning of “Dad”, “Grampy” and “Husband”.

He leaves his high school sweetheart and wife of 35 years, Robin S. (Valentine) Whitney of Townsend; a daughter, Jillian Brown and her husband, Mike of Ashby; two sons, Joshua Whitney and his wife Krystal of Ashby and Skylar Whitney of Townsend; three grandchildren, Nora Whitney, Lyla Brown and Benjamin Whitney; a brother, Gary Whitney of Orange and several cousins, nephews and nieces.

David is predeceased by two sisters, Carol Murphy and Christina Day.

A celebration of David’s life will be held at the Townsend V.F.W., 491 Main St., West Townsend, on Saturday April 27, 2019 from 12 noon to 4:00 pm.

The T. J. Anderson & Son Funeral Home, 250 Main St., Townsend is assisting the family with the funeral arrangements.
