ObituaryJan 3, 2007  OBITUARY: RICHFORD – Gerard J. Paquette, age 85, passed away Tuesday, Jan. 2, 2007, after a long illness at the Haven Health Care Facility in St. Albans with his family at his side.
He was born Dec. 9, 1921, in St. Culbert, Quebec Canada, the son of the late Mastai and Arselie (Gregoire) Paquette.
Gerard loved farming, gardening and family gatherings. He owned and operated Paquette's Store (formerly Carmen's Store) in East Franklin for several years. He also worked as a carpenter's helper with his son, Daniel and finally worked for the Town of Richford for eight years, retiring in 1997.
He loved traveling on Bus Tours and to Arizona by plane. He had also enjoyed the two times he had visited Florida. He was a member of All Saints Catholic Church in Richford.
He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Therese (Laroche) Paquette of Richford; they were married in Highgate Center on June 18, 1946. He is also survived by his three sons, Claude Paquette and his wife Viki of Tempe, Ariz., Marcel Paquette and his wife Kim of Berkshire, and Daniel Paquette and his wife Carol of Berkshire; six daughters, Claudette Garrow of Richford, Rita Garrow and her husband Gordon of Berkshire Center, Monica Neveau and her husband Lance of Berkshire Center, Lucy Lebeau and her husband Jean-Paul of Stanbridge Est, Quebec, Madeline Wetherby and her husband Donald of Richford, and Florence Doyle and her husband Edward of Richford; 24 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren; one brother, Paul Paquette and his wife Doris of Red Hook, N.Y; one sister, Dorilla Larose of White River Junction; one sister-in-law, Margarite Paquette of Richford; and several nieces and nephews. Besides his parents he was predeceased by a daughter, Monique Paquette in 1950; a son, Jerome Paquette in 1961; a granddaughter, Tonya (Garrow) Beaudry in 2003; five brothers, Lucien, Victor, Joseph, John-Louis, and Henri Paquette; and six sisters, Lucille Coulombe, Jeanne Durenleau, Margaret Vien, Marie Louise Martin, Blanche Lessard, and Marie Couture.
Funeral services will be held Friday morning, Jan. 5, 2007, at 11 a.m. at All Saints Catholic Church in Richford with Reverend Frank Eksterowicz and Reverend Leonidas Laroche con-celebrating the Mass of Christian Burial.
Visiting hours will be held Thursday evening from 6 to 9 p.m. at the Spears Funeral Home, 96 Dickinson Ave., Enosburg Falls.

ObituaryJul 3, 2013  OBITUARY: RICHFORD – Therese S. Paquette, age 87, passed away Tuesday July 2, 2013 at Fletcher Allen Health Care in Burlington with her loving family at her side. She was born in Highgate Center on March 28, 1926 the daughter of the late Henri & Maria (Gagne) Laroche. Therese attended school in Highgate and had one year of schooling at St. Ann’s Academy in Swanton before working at the Deaf Mute Institute in Buffalo, New York. Upon her return to Vermont she married Gerard Paquette on June 18, 1946 in St. Louis Catholic Church in Highgate Center. Therese was a faithful member of All Saints Catholic Church. She devoted her life to raising her family while helping her husband on the family farm and working in their store in East Franklin. She also worked for a brief period at the Richford Elementary School as a Foster Grandparent. She loved to write letters, poems and short stories for children. She enjoyed collecting stamps and post cards, sewing quilts, and making braided rugs for family as well as donating some to the church bizarre. In her later years, she enjoyed playing Scrabble, putting together Jigsaw Puzzles and doing Word Searches. Her special hobby was collecting items for a miniature antique kitchen that resembled the kitchen she grew up in. She also enjoyed traveling, especially going on bus tours to historical sites. Therese ended each day in prayer for her family, they will greatly miss her. She is survived by her sons, Claude Paquette of Tempe, AZ, Marcel Paquette and his wife Kim of Berkshire, and Daniel Paquette and his wife Carol of Cape Coral, FL; her daughters, Claudette Garrow, Madeline Wetherby and her husband Donald, Florence Doyle and her husband Eddie all of Richford, Rita Garrow and her husband Gordon of Berkshire, Monica Neveau and her husband Lance of Highgate, and Lucy Paquette and her husband Jean-Paul Lebeau of Stanbridge Est., Quebec; 22 grandchildren, 29 great grandchildren, and several step-grandchildren; 1 brother, Rev. Born Sept. 14, 1918, in Pleasant Township near Ipava to Charlie and Mabel Cass Wickert, he married Violet L. Klinedinst on April 16, 1939, in Rushville. She survives.

Also surviving are five sons, Carroll Gene of Hanford, Calif., Willis Dean of Catlett, Va., Roy Devere of Naperville, Dennis Lynn of Springfield and Quentin Lavern of Kildeer; and one sister, Mrs. Leroy (Betty) Clemens of Astoria.

He also was preceded in death by one daughter, Glenna Mae Wickert; one grandson; and two brothers.

A carpenter for 50 years, he was a member of Carpenters Union Local 644 in Pekin and a former president of Macomb Local 1883.

He was a member of the Tri- County Travelers, Good Sam Chapter and a former member of the Camp Emmanuel Board.

He was a World War II Navy veteran.

Burial will be in Woodland Cemetery in Astoria.
