He was born April 14, 1928 in Barton at the home of his parents, Clement and Melina (Poiré) Royer.  On April 11, 1953, he married Jeannette C. Bernard, who survives him.

He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War.  He was a self-employed logger and worked at the Ethan Allen furniture plant in Orleans.

He was a member of the American Legion Post #23 in Orleans and the VFW Post #798 in Newport, and DAV Post #22.  He was also a member of the Orleans Rod and Gun Club.  He was a parishioner of the Most Holy Trinity Parish in Irasburg.

Mr. Royer’s hobbies included hunting, and fishing, and listening to his favorite baseball team, the Boston Red Sox.  He also coached Little League baseball and the Irasburg Ranger softball team.

He is survived by his wife, Jeannette C. (Bernard) Royer; by his sons:  Stephen A. Royer and his wife, Diane, of Irasburg, Michael J. Royer and his fiancé, Lisa Dubois, of Derby, Paul C. Royer and his wife, Lori, of Newport, Rene J. Royer and his wife, Kimberly, of Irasburg, Randy J. Royer and Sue Mitchell of Irasburg, Anthony (Tony) Royer of Barre, and Christopher Royer and his wife, Betsy, of Coventry; by his daughters:  Angela (Royer) Allard and her husband, Larry, of Irasburg, and Catherine M. Royer of Irasburg; by his grandchildren:  Steve, Monique, Tanya, Tasha, Tricia, Michael, Travis, Trevor, Kiana, Andrea, Lisa, Rene, Brandon, Tyler, Jenna, Jaime, Andrew, Meagan, Alicia, Randi, and Devin; by his great-grandchildren:  Alyssa, Dominic, Dylin, Ariel, Michael, Rayven, Keagan, Ashlynn, Talea, Natalie, and Braelynn; by his brothers:  Ernest Royer and his wife, Virginia, Raymond Royer and his wife, Lucille, and Andrew Royer and his wife, Annette; by his sister-in-laws:  Priscilla Royer, Norine Royer and Irene Bond; by many nieces, nephews, and cousins; and by his beloved cat Lily.

He was predeceased by his brothers: Hector, Victor, Clairmont, Burton, Phillip Sr, by two sisters: Emma and Gertrude; and by his brother-in-law Richard Bond.

Funeral services were held on September 21 at St. Theresa’s Catholic Church in Orleans with the Reverend Yvon Royer celebrating a Mass. Interment followed in St. Theresa’s Cemetery in Orleans with full military honors.

He was married for 65 years to Virginia (Limlaw) Royer, who survives him.

He was born on May 17, 1929, in Newport Center, a son of Clement and Melina (Poire) Royer.

He loved spending time with family and his grandkids. He enjoyed playing with his best friend, Missy the poodle, playing cards, fishing, hunting, traveling to Florida, going out to eat, and cutting firewood.

He worked at Ethan Allen for over 15 years. Later, he and his wife bought their farm in Coventry, which they ran for several years before building the garage, Royer's Service Station, in Coventry, and the home where they lived. He also did mechanic work at home. After selling to his son, Larry, he was a familiar sight driving his truck all over the county, delivering firewood as his idea of retirement.

He is also survived by a son, Larry Royer Sr., and his partner, Lori Royea; his two daughters: Sindy Souliere and her husband, Paul, and Sue Packet and her husband, Larry; a daughter-in-law, Judy Desroches, and her husband, Rock; his grandchildren: Kathy Leblanc and her partner, Bill, Larry Royer Jr. and his wife, Denise, Bonnie Poginy and her husband, Gary, Jessica Royer and her fiancé, Jared, Mellissa Stone and her partner, Jamie, Josh Souliere and his fiancée, Aimee, Karissa, Bria, and Dekota; his great-grandchildren: Jeremy, Katie, Missy, Larry III, Amanda, Isaac, James, Tyler, Mikalah, Kadin, Kiley, Bruce III, Nicholas, Erika, Blan, and Lexis; a great-great-granddaughter, Oliva; his brothers: Raymond Royer and his wife, Lucy, and Andrew Royer and his wife, Annette; his sisters-in-law: Jeanette Royer, Noreen Royer, and Priscilla Royer; a very close friend to the family, Allan Rowell; and by many nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by a son, Ernest D. Royer; his daughter-in-law Martha Royer; his parents; his brothers: Victor, Tom, Burton, Philip, Clarmont, Clement, and Emile Royer; and by two sisters: Emma Thomas and Gertrude Curtis.

Funeral services were held on July 17, in Newport. Interment followed in the St. Theresa's Cemetery in Orleans.

She was born in Burlington, VT on February 7, 1945 the daughter of Marjorie (Houle) Lumbra. Barbara married Frank Aubrey Garrow on November 4, 1960. She was a member of the Montgomery Center Baptist Church. Her favorite pastime was spending time with her family and raising her grandchildren Jodi, Nicole, and Venessa. She was always willing to take care of her family. She loved to play BINGO and doing plastic canvas projects. She was also an avid reader. She is survived by her children, Deborah Osborne and her husband James of Las Vegas, NV, Pamela Garrow of Wallingford, VT, Frank Garrow Jr and his wife Sue of North Troy, VT, Janet Butler and her husband Jeff of Bradford, VT, and Alan Garrow and his wife Stacy of Montgomery, VT. Barbara is also survived by her grandchildren, Chris, AJ, Jodi, Steven, Ryan, Travis, Alisha, Becky, Nicole, Venessa, Josh, Lynda, and Alan Jr; her great grandchildren, Alyssa, Jacob, Jayden, Payton, Nathaniel, Angelina, And Dominic; her sisters, Elaine Archambault and her husband Richard of Milton,VT and Rachel Rushford of Athol, MA; 2 brothers, Earl Lumbra and his wife Nancy of Montgomery Center, and Oscar (Skip) Noel of Valatie, NY.

Barbara was predeceased by her husband Frank Garrow on July 26, 1986.

A memorial service will be held Monday July 14, 2008 at 11:00 AM at the Montgomery Center Baptist Church. Interment will be held at a later date at the convenience of the family. There will be no visiting hours. For those who wish, contributions in Barbara’s memory may be made to American Lung Association, 372 Hurricane Lane, Suite 101, Williston, VT 05495.
