ObituaryJan 24, 2007  OBITUARY: Douglas P. McKown, age 90, passed away on Sunday, January 21, 2007 at the Lafayette Center in Franconia, New Hampshire.

Doug was born on June 5, 1916, the second son to Nathan and Beatrice (Hurd) McKown at 62 School Street in Lisbon, New Hampshire.

As a young lad, Doug ran errands, picked berries, dug dandelion greens, and did most any odd job he could do to earn money during the depression. He later worked in Chamberlain's Meat Market as well as the First National Stores in Lisbon, NH, Wells River and Norwich, VT, and became Manager of the First National Store in Hanover, NH. Doug enlisted in the U. S. Army on February 16, 1943, completed Basic Training and transferred to the 10th Mountain Division in Colorado, after which he was sent to Northern Italy where he served as a Medic. He was mustered out of the service on November 25, 1945 as a Staff Sergeant.

Doug returned to Lisbon and was employed at Parker and Young's prior to applying to the U. S. Post Office, where he was employed as the Village Postal Carrier. He and his wife, Ruth, resided in the same house on School Street in which he was born. He was a member of the Congregational Church, Masonic Lodge, and the V.F.W. Howard Shawney Post #816. Doug was an avid golfer, played tennis, and was short stop for the village baseball team. At the age of eighty, he and a friend climbed Cannon Mountain.

Doug is survived by his wife, Ruth McKown of Lisbon, New Hampshire; a son, David McKown of Pittsfield, Massachusetts; two stepsons, Richard Robinson and James Robinson; two sisters, Nathalie Murray and Jocelyn Jamieson; and several nieces and nephews.

A Celebration of Doug's Life will be held later in the spring.

ObituaryFeb 22, 2019  OBITUARY: Natalie "Toosie" (McKown) Murray, 97, of Enfield, wife of the late Arthur Murray, died Monday, February 18, 2019 in the comfort of her home. She was born in Lisbon, NH on September 7, 1921 to the late Nathan and Beatrice (Hurd) McKown. She worked at Phelon's, in East Longmeadow for 27 years. Her hobbies were making candy and Christmas ornaments for the grandchildren and friends, and was an avid reader.

Natalie is survived by her loving daughter Lynn Provencher and husband Fred, her two beloved grandsons, Fred Provencher and wife Michelle, and Kevin Provencher, and five cherished great grandchildren, Kyle, Katelyn, Sarah, Tyler and Carlie. She is also survived by her beloved sister, Jocelyn Jameson, along with her nieces and nephews, Steve, Cindy, Diane, Randy, Jane, Keith, Mickey and Jimmy. She was also predeceased by her three brothers, Malcolm, Douglas and Kenneth McKown. Her family would especially like to thank Dr. George Donahue & staff for tending to her healthcare needs over the years and care givers, Lupe & Penny from Companions & Homemakers and Amy with Trinity of New England Hospice.

ObituaryJun 25, 2026  OBITUARY: It is with heavy hearts that we share the passing of our beloved Mother, Jocelyn Jamieson. Born on October 9, 1935, in Lisbon, N.H. to Nathan and Beatrice McKown. Jocelyn passed away on May 22, 2026, in Salisbury, NH after 18 months in hospice at her home.

Born and raised in Lisbon, NH and graduating from Lisbon High School, she raised her family in Barnard, VT and Concord NH before settling in Salisbury for 50+ years.

She was a great cook. Known to her grandchildren as "soup Grammie". Jocelyn loved crafting, quilting and gardening. She spent endless hours playing cards with her sister, Toosie, after retiring from the NH State Prison. She also enjoyed camping and tending her flower beds.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers Malcom, Kenneth, Douglas and sister Nathalie (Toosie).

Jocelyn is survived by her children, Steve Jamieson of Salisbury, NH, Cindi Murphy and husband Bill from Northfield, NH, Dianna Jamieson and husband Joe Mendola of VT and Randy Jamieson and wife Lisa of Alexandria, NH. She also leaves many grandchildren, great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

A celebration of life will be held at Phaneuf Funeral Home at 172 King Street in Boscawen, NH on Wednesday, June 3, 2026, from 5 to 7 p.m.
