Born March 29, 1933 in Westford to Fred and Adelaide Parkhurst, he graduated from Chelmsford High school 1952. He joined the Air Force and served from 1952 to 1956. Richard is a member of the VFW Chatham.

Richard is survived by his wife Dorothy (Dolly) Parkhurst. He is also survived by his Daughter Tracey Parkhurst and Granddaughter Chelsea of Sarasota, Florida. Step Children and Grandchildren include Daniel McDonough and his wife Leslie children Jessica, Madison and Danny of Harwich; Terence McDonough of Harwich; Scott McDonough his wife Dianne children Meghan and Haley of Mattapoisett; Dorothy (Dottie) Paradise and grandson Dalton of New Bedford. He is also survived by two sisters Althea Alling and Jane Wright and a brother Fred (Bump) Parkhurst. He is predeceased by his brother Bud Garrow and sister June Alexander.

A service will be held Saturday December 11th at St. Peters Lutheran Church, 310 Rt. 137, Harwich at 11:00 am.

In lieu of flowers contributions may be made in his name to St. Peters Lutheran Church Memorial Fund.
