ObituaryNov 25, 2008  OBITUARY: ST. ALBANS - Mr. Fred O. Putnam, age 91, died Friday evening, Nov. 21, 2008, in the Northwestern Medical Center, with his loving wife and daughter at his bedside. Fred was born in Montgomery, March 22, 1917, son of the late Fred and Minnie (Cantwell) Putnam.

Most of his working life, he was a machine operator at the H. P. Hood Creamery, at the processing plant in St. Albans. Fred spent many hours repairing washing machines, in the basement of his own home, a hobby he always enjoyed. He and his wife traveled extensively, mostly to several of the United States and Vancouver. They also appreciated Taylor Park and spent many summer evenings sitting in the park. Fred also enjoyed helping his wife with picture puzzles. He was a member of St. Paul's United Methodist Church.

July 3, 1944, Fred married Florence Kelley. Besides his wife of over 64 years, he is survived by daughter and son-in-law, Darlene and John Leach, of Enosburg Center; three grandchildren, Brian Bonk, Landon Bonk and Misty Leach; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his parents, Fred and Minnie; and his sister, Mattie Lacross.

Funeral services will be held Friday, Nov. 28, 2008, at 10 a.m. in the Brady & Levesque Chapel. Pastor Herman Benjamin of St. Paul's United Methodist Church will officiate. There will be no public calling hours. Interment will be in the Putnam family lot in St. Albans Bay Cemetery.

He was born in Berkshire on August 20, 1934 to the late Walter & Marion (Leahy) Duso.

Bob attended East Berkshire Elementary and graduated from Enosburg Falls High School class of 1952. After graduating he went to work at the paper mill in Sheldon; where he spent 41 years before retiring in 1995 due to illness. Bob married Beverly Lovelette on November 19, 1954. His hobbies included woodworking, building Adirondack chairs, and organizing bus trips to Atlantic City. Bob also loved going for rides and taking family trips to Wells, Maine in the summer. In recent years, Bob's greatest joy was spending time with his family and watching his grandchildren play sports or anything they participated in. He especially enjoyed watching his great granddaughter ride her bike.

He is survived by his children, David Duso and his friend Bev of Milton, Lori Shuren and her husband Mark, Mark Duso and his wife Crista all of Enosburg Falls, Dawn Limmer and her husband Joel of Bloomington, MN, Carol Kane and her husband Greg of Sheldon and Shannon Burk and her husband Michael of Fletcher; 7 Grandchildren, Coty, Scott Alyssa and Tyler Duso, Morgan Limmer and Jeremy and Amy Kane; 1 Great Grandchild, Andrea Duso; a brother, John Duso and his wife Perri of South Burlington, sister, Carolena Jaquith and her husband Myrl of Port St. Joe, FL and several nieces & nephews. Besides his parents, Bob was predeceased by his wife, Beverly (Lovelette) Duso, his son, Michael Duso and a sister, Sandra Duso.

A Memorial Service will be held Tuesday, January 28, 2014 at 5:00 PM at the Spears Funeral Home, 96 Dickinson Ave., Enosburg Falls with Pastor Tim Stetson officiating. Interment will be held this spring in the East Berkshire Congregational Cemetery.

Visiting hours will be held at the funeral home on Tuesday from 3:00 until the hour of the funeral.

Bev enjoyed spending time with her family and preparing meals and playing with her grandchildren.
She is survived by her husband, Robert Duso; two sons and their wives, David and Sherry Duso of Milton, and Mark and Christa Duso of Enosburg; four daughters, Lori and Mark Shuren of Enosburg, Dawn and Joel Limmer of Bloomington, Minn., Carol and Greg Kane of Sheldon, and Shannon Duso and her friend, Michael Burke, of Colchester; her mother-in-law, Marion Duso, of Enosburg; four brothers, Loren and Velma Lovelette of Portland, Me., Norman and Yvonne Lovelette of St. Albans, Allen and Janice Lovelette of Presque Isle, Me., Lawrence and Judy Lovelette of Swanton; two sisters, Janice Gale of Burlington, Sally and Dexter Ovitt of New Smyrna Beach, Fla; six grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
