He was born on December 4th 1924 in Winooski, Vt., he was the son of Leo Joseph and Lovey Blanche (LeBeau) St. Peter.
The third child in a musical family, at the age of 10 Leonard joined his sisters and brother in the family band, the Waikiki Islanders, a Hawaiian ensemble that played in many venues in the Burlington, Vt. area, in addition to a show on local radio. He played the ukulele, which he continued to enjoy in his later years.
After graduating from Winooski High School Class of 1942, Leonard served as Sergeant US Marine Corps in World War II in the Southwest Pacific area.
He participated in action against the enemy in the Northern Solomon Islands, the Bismarck Archipelago, and the landing on Peleliu Island.
He married Louise Eva Dragoon on October 31st 1946 in Burlington, Vermont. Together they had five children and shared 59 years together. She predeceased him on November 13th 2005.
Leonard Owned and Operated Leonard's Shell Service Station in downtown Burlington, Vt. from 1955 to 1978.
He then was Service Manager at Fitzpatrick's GMC from where he retired in 1988.
He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and family ski trips on weekends, spending his leisure time with his children.
He was predeceased by his parents; his father Leo St. Peter in 1964 and his mother Lovey St. Peter in 1991, two sisters; Irene Blanche (St. Peter) Cummings on March 19th 2008 and Theresa Lucille (St. Peter) Partelo on March 8th 2015, two brothers; Louis Albert St. Peter on February 28th 1979 and Robert Leon St. Peter, one sister-in-law; Karen Ann (Kennedy) St. Peter on November 11th 1998, and three brothers-in-law; Stephen Thomas Cummings on February 14th 1986, Norman Wesley Williams on April 1st 1994, and William Edward Partelo on December 16th 2003.
Arrangements by the Ready Funeral Home and Cremation Services Inc. South Chapel on 261 Shelburne Road in Burlington, Vt.
A private service will be held at a later date, according to Leonard's wishes.

She spent her younger years growing up in Sheldon Springs. Deborah enjoyed being with her family, especially outdoors boating and camping.
She married Daniel Williams June 20, 1980. Besides her husband of Underhill, she is survived by her two sons, Jared Williams, currently with the U.S. Coast Guard in Almeda, Calif., and Josh Williams at home in Underhill; her parents, Clement and Betty Norris of Sheldon Springs; three brothers, Sheriff Robert Norris and his wife Libby of Sheldon, Alan Norris and his wife Julie of Fairfax and Kevin Norris and his wife Amy of Essex; her mother-in-law, Henrietta Williams of Essex; sister-in-law, Kathy and her husband Bernie DeMasi of Tennessee; brothers-in-law, Jimmy and his wife Emily Williams of Milton, Pat and his wife Penny Williams of Essex, Alan Williams of Essex; and several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by her father-in-law, Norman Williams.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, Nov.7, at 2 p.m. in St. Paul's United Methodist Church in St. Albans. There will be no public calling hours. Interment will be private following the service in the Norris/Williams family lot in Sheldon Village Cemetery.
Arrangements are entrusted to the Brady & Levesque Funeral Home.

In a joint statement issued by Hampden County District Attorney Anthony D. Gulluni, state Fire Marshal Stephen D. Coan, Palmer Fire Chief Alan J. Roy, and Police Chief John J. Janulewicz, the deceased was identified as Christine Grinaski, a resident of 1047 Pleasant St.
Grinaski, who lived in a basement studio apartment, never made it outside after being overcome by smoke, according to the statement. The source of the fire was traced back to her apartment. A neighbor told officials that Grinaski had notified a neighbor of the fire, that it was caused by a candle, and to call the fire department. The neighbor barely made it out alive, and Grinaski was not as fortunate, officials said.
Investigators also found evidence of a melted candle in the living room where the fire was started. All other possible causes have been eliminated.
'Fires are black making it impossible to see your hand in front of your face. The toxic gases in smoke are extremely disorienting, making it harder to think clearly and to escape even familiar surroundings,' Coan said. 'It is so important when there is a fire that people get out fast and stay out.' He said people should call the fire department from outside a burning building. Roy said a residential fire can double in size every 60 seconds. 'It is critical to get out and stay out and get the fire department on its way. Time is your enemy in a fire when you may have less than two minutes to escape safely,' he said.
The building had a hard-wired interconnected smoke alarm system in common hallways that alerted many of the residents, but it is not clear if the individual smoke detectors inside the different apartment units functioned, officials said. An inspection after the fire found many that had missing or dead batteries.
'There were reports that some people heard the smoke alarms and did not leave the building until the fire department arrived,' Roy said. 'We are fortunate more lives were not lost in this fire.' He asked everyone in town to inspect their smoke alarms in their homes immediately to make sure they are working. 'I do not want to lose anyone else to fire,' he said. As recently as 2013, there were 135 fires in Massachusetts blamed on candles. These caused two deaths, 31 injuries and $4.3 million in damages.
The fire marshal's office recommends keeping a candles at least 1 foot away from anything that can burn and on a noncombustible surface such as a ceramic plate, never leaving a burning candle unattended, to put out flames when leaving the room, going out or going to sleep, and to keep candles away from children and pets.
People should also consider using battery-operated candles.
