ObituaryApr 21, 2019  OBITUARY: RICHFORD – Douglas Wayne Billado, age 65, passed away on Friday, April 19, 2019 with his loving family by his side at the Northwestern Medical Center in St. Albans.

He was born on May 10, 1953 in St. Albans to the late Carroll Sr. & Eleanor (Lakey) Billado.

Doug spent all of his life living in Richford. He was an avid hunter and fisherman. Doug loved collecting and working on old tractors, he also loved collecting guns and coins. In the past, Doug worked for the town of Richford, and the Richford Golf Course. Most recently, he drove truck for Brouillette Farms in Richford, and Domina Farms in Sheldon. He was a long-time member of the Richford Volunteer Fire Department, and the American Legion Post #12 in Richford, where he was currently serving as Commander for the Sons of the Legion. Most importantly, Doug loved his family more than anything in this world – and no matter what – he was always there for them. He was the best husband, father, grandfather, brother, and uncle anyone could ask for.

He is survived by his wife, Ruth Billado of Richford; their children, Christine Carpenter and her husband Mark, and Karen Paul and her husband Mike all of Richford; nine grandchildren, Alexis Billado, Levi, Bradley & Colby Carpenter, Kayla, Maria, Matt, Michael & Leah Paul; his siblings, Avris Billado and her significant other Alvin “Junior” Miles of Enosburgh, Barbara Beauregard and her husband Rene of Richford, Kathy Marshia and her husband David of Enosburgh, and Danny Billado and his wife Lynn of Swanton; siblings-in-law, Nancy Parr, and Elmer “Merle” Guthery of Missouri; and many beloved nieces & nephews. Besides his parents, Douglas was predeceased by his son, Stephen Wayne Billado in 2001; and his siblings, Timmy Billado, Richard “Dicky” Billado, Lisa Lefebvre, Jeannie Bryce, and Carroll “Buzzy” Billado Jr.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, April 24, 2019 from 5-8:00 PM at Spears Funeral Home, 96 Dickinson Ave., Enosburg Falls.

A funeral service will be held on Thursday, April 25, 2019 at 11:00 AM at Spears Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Missisquoi Cemetery in Enosburg Falls.

He was born in St. Albans, VT, the son of Carroll S. and Eleanor (Lackey) Billado.

He was a member of Enosburg Falls Army National Guard, Company B, 1st Battalion, 172nd Armor, and was on active duty training with Company E, 2nd Battalion, Third Basic Training Brigade, at Fort Dix.

Besides his parents, of Richfrod, he leaves a son, Timothy J. of Richford; four brothers, Carroll S. Jr., Richard H., Douglas W. and Daniel E., all of Richford; five sisters, Mrs. Rene (Barbara) Beauregard, Miss Kathleen Billado and Miss Lisa Billado of Richford, Mrs. Harold (Avris) Willey Jr. of Lowell and Mrs. Robert (Geraldine) Conger of Highgate; paternal grandmother, Mrs. Avris Clark Billado of Enosburg Falls; and several nieces and nephews.

Military funeral arrangements will be announced later. Local arrangements are by the Spears Funeral Home of Enosburg.

Sherrie graduated from the Essex Technical Center, as an Honor Society member with a Business Technology degree in 1997. She was a member of the American Legion in Alburgh, VT where she was President of the Ladies Auxiliary from 1985 to 1987. She was also a member of the VFW Post 6689 in Essex Junction where she once again held the title of President of the Ladies Auxiliary from 1995 to 1997.

Sherrie was known for her rambunctious personality and physical strength for such a petite woman. She was also known for her green thumb. She loved to garden, which included harvesting and canning. You can still hear the buzz of her delicious jams. She was a great cook and loved to bake, which included cake decorating. She was also a master of crochet. In addition, she enjoyed writing and had a love for animals. There wasn’t an animal she would not take in. She had many pets in her lifetime ranging from small to large which included cats, dogs, birds, rabbits, ferrets, and even a goose. Some of her children’s special memories of her were their custom-made Easter baskets, Christmas stockings, special birthday cakes, watching her cook in the kitchen and her laugh.

In addition to her parents, Sherrie was predeceased by her soulmate William (Bill) Sweeney and one of her sisters Midj Seguin. She is survived by her close friend Tom Sombric, her children, Dorie Jones, Mariah Billado, and Rebecca Metri. She is also survived by her grandchildren Jason, Damien, Zachery, Faith, Katherine, and Mila; great-grandchildren Lilli and Landin, siblings Jerry, Steve, Gary, Mary, and Brenda, including numerous nieces and nephews.

A private gathering will be held in the summer. The family suggests in lieu of flowers; please send donations to your local animal shelter.

He rendered great service at Florida Power & Light for 31 years, retiring as administrator of governmental services. Mr. Lerman was a member of The Community Church of Vero Beach, Fla. ObituaryJun 15, 2017  OBITUARY: Robert Edward Brown, 86, of Rutland Town, passed away Tuesday, June 13, 2017, with his family by his side at The Pines at Rutland, where he received excellent care.

He was born on Jan. 15, 1931, in Rutland, the son of Clifton and Kathleen (Hebert) Brown.

Mr. Brown grew up in Wallingford, graduating from the Wallingford High School class of 1950. During his senior year, he was the captain of the Wallingford High School basketball team that won the Vermont State Championship Class C in 1950.

He served in the Rutland Army Reserves, being called up for service in Germany during the Korean War. He also served in the Vermont National Guard for many years.

On Dec. 3, 1949, he married Jane White in Wallingford. Together, they raised nine children.

Mr. Brown was employed by Tambrands for 41 years prior to his retirement in 1993.

He was an avid hunter, a great cook and enjoyed many bus trips to Atlantic City.

Mr. Brown was a diehard Red Sox and Celtics fan. He also enjoyed the many summers at Tinmouth Pond and was well-known for his fireworks displays on the 4th of July.

Survivors include his wife, Jane, of Rutland Town; daughters Diane Ross, of Castleton, Julie (Larry) Sharon, of Wallingford, and Mary Brown, of Williston; sons Tom, of Florence, Rand (Cindy), of Rutland, Dale (Monica), of Rutland, Timothy (Sandi), of Londonderry, NH, Randall Brown; 13 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by a son, Robert Jr., in 2011; a son-in-law, Nick Ross, in 2015; also five siblings.

There will be no calling hours.

A memorial service will be held 10:30 a.m. Saturday, June 17, 2017, at Christ the King Church. Burial will be at a later date in the St. Patrick Cemetery in Wallingford.

Arrangements are by the Aldous Funeral Home.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Mount St. Joseph Development Fund, 127 Convent Ave., Rutland, VT 05701.
