He was born in Bourget, Ontario, Sept. 1, 1922, son of Adolph and Zelma (Pilon) Lavoie.

Survivors include his wife, Irene (Lafountaine) Lavoie, whom he married 44 years ago in Richford; four sons, Richard Lavoie of Fairfax, Rene Lavoie of Sherburne, Peter Lavoie of Chester and Stephen Lavoie of Colchester; four daughters, Shirley Wright of Hinsdale, N.H., Barbara Boegman and Jane Thompson, both of Springfield and Mary Thompson of North Springfield; three sisters, all of Timmins, Ontario; 18 grandchildren and nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 9 a.m. at St. Mary’s Church in Springfield. Burial will be in the spring in St. Mary’s Cemetery.

Family visiting hours will be Tuesday evening at the Davis Memorial Chapel.
