Mrs. Gay is survived by three sons, John Brace of Brockton, Stephen Brace of Marshfield and Gregory Brace of Manomet; three daughters, Mrs. Sherman F. (Mary Ellen) Primmerman of Maynard, Mrs. Scott (Theresa) McKay of Plymouth and Miss Dianne Brace of Boston; three sisters, May Slowey and Patricia Gay of Plymouth; and Mrs. Paul (Laurie) Lenny of Wellfleet; and five grandchildren.

A funeral Mass was celebrated at 11 a.m., Monday in St. Peter's Church followed by burial in Manomet Cemetery.

Cartmell Funeral Home, 150 Court St., made the arrangements.

Marguerite was born in Springfield, MA and was the daughter of the late Roy and Margaret Tatro.

She grew up in Agawam, Massachusetts and was a graduate of Agawam High School. Music played an important role in Marguerites life. She was an accomplished vocalist, pianist, and organist, and was the soprano soloist for many years at the Immaculate Conception Church in West Springfield. She took part in annual shows. She was also a past member of the Junior Extension of the Tuesday Morning Music Club. Marguerite was a former long-distance operator at New England Telephone Company. During World War II while her husband was serving as a photographer in the Air Force overseas, Marguerite was a telephone operator for the War Department from 1942-1945. Marguerite was a nature enthusiast, a birder, and a gardener, and enjoyed the company of her dogs throughout the years. Marguerite was a devoted wife and mother whose happiest times were spent with her family.

She is predeceased by her husband, Eugene F. Sullivan, Jr, her brothers Bernard, Louis, and Gilbert Tatro. She is survived by her daughters Kathleen Sullivan of Wilbraham, MA, and Christine Carroll and her husband George of Bradford, MA. Also surviving are her brother Paul Tatro and his wife Lucille of East Longmeadow, her sister-in-law Mary Tatro of Agawam, and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral services with burial in Adams Cemetery, Wilbraham are private. There are no calling hours.

ObituaryJan 5, 2013  OBITUARY: Bernard R. Tatro, Sr., 93, of Agawam died Friday, January 4th, 2012 at Quail Run Estates. He was a lifelong resident of Agawam and lived on Main Street for nearly 90 years. He was the devoted and loving husband of Mary M. (Mnich) Tatro for 68 years, a cherished father, brother, uncle, cousin, grandfather and great-grandfather, as well as a friend to many.

Bernard was born August 5th, 1919 in Springfield, son of Roy B. Tatro and Margaret B. (Bangs) Tatro. He attended Agawam schools and the former Springfield Trade High. He served in the United States Army and the Army Air Corps during WWII and was the recipient of the Bronze Star for his service in the Infantry. He was a machinist by trade and in 1965 started Walbern Precision Co., in Agawam where he worked until retirement in 1982. Bernard was a communicant of St. John the Evangelist Church in Agawam and served on its building committee. He attended the first Mass in 1946, and later became a member of the Agawam Catholic Men's Club and Knights of Columbus. He was also on the Board of Directors of the former Western Mass Precision Institute and in 1963 he became a certified vocational teacher. He was a licensed pilot and co-owned a vintage aircraft which he and his son restored over a period of years and flew all over the region and to the Mid-west for the annual Oshkosh Air Show. Their aircraft was featured in the EAA Classic Aircraft magazine in 1995.

He leaves his wife, Mary M. (Mnich) Tatro, a son, Bernard R. Tatro, Jr., known to friends and family members as "Chip", a resident of Chicopee; his daughter Barbara J. O'Connor and her husband Timothy of Agawam; his two cherished grandsons Michael T. O'Connor and wife Lynne of Feeding Hills, and Christopher P. O'Connor of Agawam; his great- grandchildren Zachary L. O'Connor of Feeding Hills, and Bromleigh and Bretton O'Connor of Agawam. He also leaves his sister, Marguerite (Tatro) Sullivan of Wilbraham and a brother Paul A. Tatro and wife Lucille of Agawam. He was pre-deceased by brothers Gilbert and Louis in 2003.

A two-time survivor of cancer, Bernard's wishes were for donations to be made to Dana Farber Cancer Institute or Brigham & Women's Hospital, both in Boston, in lieu of flowers.

The funeral will be Thursday at 11am at the Agawam Funeral Home, 184 Main Street followed by burial in Agawam Center Cemetery. Calling hours will precede the service from 9-11am.

He was a former longtime resident of Agawam. Mr. Tatro, 90, was born January 26, 1924 to the late Roy B. and Margaret (Bangs) Tatro. He graduated from Agawam High School in 1940. He was a veteran of World War II, and remained in the Naval Reserves until retiring as Lieutenant Commander in 1972. Mr. Tatro graduated from Harvard College in 1948. He later continued his educational studies and received a Masters Degree from Springfield College and a Certificate of Advanced Graduate Studies from Springfield College. Mr. Tatro was a public school educator for thirty-six years. He began his teaching career at Agawam Junior High School. He transferred to the Springfield system in 1952 and for the next eighteen years he held multiple Assistant Principal and Principal Positions at the junior and senior high school level. In 1970, he returned to Agawam to become Principal of Agawam High School. In 1972, due to his vast experience at the junior high level, he was appointed to organize and develop a course of study for the new Agawam Junior High School. He retired in 1984 as Assistant Superintendent of the Agawam Public Schools. Mr. Tatro was a founding member of St. John the Evangelist Church and a Life Member of the John F. Kennedy Council 5585 Knights of Columbus. Mr. Tatro was also a Life Member of the Agawam Lions Club of which he was a member for more than sixty years. In Lions International, he served as District Governor of District 33Y.

Mr. Tatro is survived by his loving and dedicated wife of sixty-four years, the former Lucille E. (Letendre) Tatro, two daughters, Paula E. Tangredi and her husband David of Milford, MA, Cynthia L. Chapman and her husband James of Feeding Hills, and three sons, Glenn A. Tatro and his wife Karen, Thomas R. Tatro and his wife Elizabeth, and Paul A. Tatro Jr., and his wife Ivette, all of Charlotte, NC. He also leaves eight granddaughters, one grandson, three step-grandsons, and five great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his sister, Marguerite Sullivan, and his brothers, Bernard, Louis and Gilbert Tatro.

The funeral will be Wednesday at 9am from the Agawam Funeral Home, 184 Main Street with a Mass in Sacred Heart Church in Feeding Hills at 10. The burial will follow in Agawam Center Cemetery. Calling hours are Tuesday from 4-7pm.

No local services are scheduled. Memorial Graveside Service will take place on Fri. July 25, 2003 at 2 p.m. in the Agawam Center Cemetery, Agawam, Massachusetts. Wiegand Brothers Funeral Home is in charge. Memorial donations may be made to Hospice of Southwest Florida, 5955 Rand Blvd., Sarasota, FL 34238; or to Venice Library Genealogy Dept., 300 S. Nokomis Ave., Venice, FL 34285.

Moriah Methodist Church, the Rev. Raymond F. Wrenn pastor of the Crozet Methodist Church. Interment will follow in the churchyard.
