ObituaryMar 22, 2000  OBITUARY: WATERBURY CENTER/STOWE — Ernest I Brunton, 91, passed away on Tuesday, March 21, 2000, at the Central Vermont Hospital in Berlin.

He was born in Montgomery, on Nov. 22, 1908, the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Aaron and Geneva ""Deuso" Brunton. Ernest grew up in Montgomery and at the age of 14 he started work at the ""Atlas Plywood" veneer mill in Montgomery and in 1929, moved to Waterbury to work for the Waterbury Veneer Mill. Ernest married Edith Louise Touchette on Sept. 21, 1931, in Waterbury. In May of 1944, they moved to Stowe Hollow where they purchased and operated a 180 acre farm known as the ""Grand View Farm. In 1952, they started to take in skiers and summer guests and operated their farm as a bed and breakfast until Ernest's retirement in 1973. After his retirement Ernest and Edith moved to Waterbury Center where he was known to be a tireless groundskeeper and handyman. Ernest is survived by his wife of 69 years, Edith Brunton; his sister-in-law, Rossana Brunton of Montgomery; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was predeceased by his parents; his five brothers; and four sisters.

An interment will take place at a later date in the spring at the Riverbank Cemetery in Stowe.
