ObituaryJun 14, 2021  OBITUARY: Allen James Greenough, passed away peacefully on May 9th 2021, just a few weeks before his 95th birthday at the Fawcett Memorial Hospital in Port Charlotte, Fla.

Allen's early fascination with flight led to his first solo flight as a pilot at the age of sixteen, and, on May 9, 2021, Allen took to the skies once again and continued up into the heavens where his Mother, Father, and his six other siblings were patiently waiting to welcome Allen into their loving arms.

Allen's younger years and early schooling were in Sheldon Springs, Vt., and then to High School at BFA in St. Albans, Vt., while working part time at Nate's, a clothing store on Main Street in St. Albans, Vt.

Allen then enlisted in the Army Air Corp in 1943 and spent time in Germany during the Allied Occupation.

Allen was honorably discharged in 1946 and returned home to finish High School at BFA.

Allen then enrolled at the University of Vermont in Burlington, Vt. After his junior year at UVM, Allen married Barbara Griffin, RN in 1949, and he graduated from UVM in 1950. They celebrated 72 years together and had six children; two daughters and four sons.

A favorite pastime for Allen was to take his young and growing family on vacation trips to various campgrounds, and to fit in some golf when possible.

In 1957, Allen and family moved to Massachusetts, where he began a long and successful career in the insurance industry. Allen also attended night school at New England Law in Boston for a few years and graduated with a law degree in 1964, with his wife Barbara and their 5 young children in attendance.

Later in 1964 the family moved back to Vermont where Allen served as District Manager for the insurance company he was employed with until his retirement many years later.

In 1993 Allen and Barbara retired to southwest Florida where Allen enjoyed being a member of the VFW, American Legion, and Elks, where he and Barbara enjoyed many evenings of dining and dancing to his favorite Big Band music of the '40s.

Allen was predeceased by his parents, and six siblings; Norman, Helen, Bill, Molly, Ruth, and Ann.

ObituaryJun 10, 2022  OBITUARY: SGT Robert Warren "Bob" Curtis, Sr, of Newport, NH, passed away peacefully on June 6, 2022 at New London Hospital following a brief illness. He was born in Windsor, VT on February 1, 1925 to Clyde F Sr and Velma (Kenyon) Curtis.

He was raised in VT and NH attending schools in Hartford, VT and Lebanon, NH. He graduated from Stevens High School in Claremont, NH with the class of 1943.

He married Claire Irene Burrell on February 28, 1952 in Charlestown, NH but they later divorced.

Bob was drafted into the U S Army out of high school in 1943 receiving Infantry Basic Training and Light Mortar Crewman assignment. Bob also participated in the ski troops with the 10th Mountain Division. He served for two years in the South Pacific in New Caledonia, Solomons, and the Philippines during World War II. Bob was wounded and received a purple heart and a bronze medal. He received an Honorable Discharge from the Military Service of the U S Army in January 1946 with status of Sergeant Company K 148th Infantry Regiment. Bob had many interesting stories which he enjoyed sharing about his World War II service time.

Bob's employment history includes working in Claremont, NH with a local furniture company for twelve years and being a U S Postal Service Letter Carrier for twenty eight years. He retired from the Postal Service in 1985 at the age of 60 after which he enjoyed many years of road trip travel, including World War II Reunions in Ohio, with many stops along the way at campgrounds with his campers.

Bob was also a musician playing with various bands as a bass guitarist into his 80's. Hobbies he enjoyed for many years were table tennis, metal detecting for treasures, collecting old bottles found in very old foundations, hunting, fishing, and kayaking. He was an animal lover and had both cats and dogs, his favorite cat being "Zip" for seventeen years. Bob was an avid sports fan, especially rooting for the Red Sox and New England Patriots with his family.

Surviving family members include daughter and caregiver Jill Curtis of Newport, NH and Glen; son Robert Curtis Jr and Deb of Canaan, NH; granddaughters Ashley Marcotte of Henderson, NV and Jessica Thibodeau of Canaan, NH; great granddaughter Ashlynn Thibodeau of Canaan, NH; several special nieces and nephews and "Jasper".

Bob was predeceased in death by his parents, stepfather Earl Tobin of NH; a brother Stanley Curtis of NY; brother Clyde Curtis Jr of CT; sister Rita Curtis Dole of NH; grandson Robert Curtis III of NH; cousins in VT and NH.

A private graveside service will take place in October 2022 in Claremont, NH.

Erma retired as Director of Finance from Mathews County Public Schools in 1997 after 26 years of service. She was a member of Bethel United Methodist Church in Mathews, serving in many positions through the years. Erma was known for the many cards and flowers that she sent to friends and family throughout the year. If she knew you, she never missed a birthday or an anniversary. She loved to shop and was known for her marathon shopping trips. Erma loved her church and her family. Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren gave her joys and smiles.

Erma was preceded in death by her husband of 61 years, James Haywood Webb, Jr; her mother, Goldie Virginia Hudgins; her father, Floyd Ellis Hudgins, Sr; sisters, Janette Hudgins and Virginia Hughes and her brother, Floyd Ellis Hudgins, Jr.

She is survived by two daughters, Jill Webb and Joy Drummond (Jim); two grandchildren, Kara Drummond Royall (Hunter) and Timothy Drummond (Tori); five great-grandchildren, Fiona, Libby, Sam Drummond and Julia and Adrienne Royall and several special nieces, nephews, and cousins.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday, June 10, 2020 from 12:00 to 1:00 p.m. at Bethel United Methodist Church, 1459 Garden Creek Road, Onemo, Virginia 23130, with a funeral service beginning at 1:00 p.m. Burial will follow the service at Milford Cemetery, Moon, Virginia.
