He was born in Fairfield, VT, on April 30, 1927, the son of the late Vern and Ida (Barcomb) Fleming.

Homer served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He married Lorraine Bleau on Aub. 3, 1946, in St. Stephen Catholic Church.

He worked at Vermont Gas for 32 years and retired in 1987. He was a parishioner of St. Frances Xavier Catholic Church. Among his many hobbies, he especially enjoyed hunting, fishing and playing cards.

Homer is survived by his wife of 54 years, Lorraine Rhodes, of Winooski; three daughters, Barbara and her husband, Richard Poirier, of Woodbury, Sharon Corrigan of Winooski, Linda and her husband, David Bombard, of Burlington; a special niece, Carol Rhodes of Winooski; seven grandchildren, Stacy Miner, Kristopher Poirier, Bradley and Jennifer Corrigan, David, Melissa, and Margaret Bombard; five great-grandchildren, Emily and Zachary Miner, Summer and Indigo Bombard and Hannah Corrigan; one brother, Frank and his wife, Pauline, Rhodes of South Burlington; several nieces, nephews, cousins, and a very special card partner, Margaret Barcomb.

He was predeceased by one brother and his wife, Floyd and Doris Rhodes.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Wednesday, May 23, 2001, at 10 a.m. in St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Winooski. Interment will be Thursday, May 24, 2001, at 11 a.m. in St. Francis Xavier Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to National Shrine of St. Jude, Claretian Fathers and Brothers, 205 West Monroe Street, Chicago, ILL 60606. Visiting hours will be Tuesday, May 22, from 7 to 9 p.m. in the LaVigne Funeral Home, Inc., 132 Main St., Winooski, VT.
