She was born Sept. 10, 1927, in Concord to the late George Milford Brown and Florence Bertha MacQueston Brown. Verna graduated from Newton Wellesley Hospital School of Nursing in 1949. She married the love of her life, G. Gordon Dwyer, on Oct. 8, 1949. Together they lovingly raised their seven children.

She worked for 20 years at Worcester Memorial Hospital as a registered nurse. She was a member of the Congregational Church of Westborough.

Verna leaves behind to cherish her memory her sons, Bruce Dwyer of Fredericksburg, Jeffrey Dwyer and wife Diane of Davidson, N.C., Robert Dwyer and wife Janet of Waynesburg, Pa., Thomas Dwyer and wife Joann of Westborough; daughters Janice Uhlman and husband Donald of Fredericksburg and Laurie DeMalia and husband John of Hubbardston; 22 grandchildren; 39 great-grandchildren; many step-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren; sister-in-law Phyllis Westgate of Taunton; and many special nieces and nephews.

Verna’s family was her life, she loved them all dearly. She was preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, G. Gordon Dwyer; their son, Stephen Dwyer; and her two sisters, Dorothy Brown Warren and Eleanor Brown Young.

Services will be held Saturday, May 5, at 10:30 a.m., in The Congregational Church of Westborough, 57 West Main St. Burial will follow in Pine Grove Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to The Walden Woods Project, 44 Baker Farm, Lincoln, MA 01773-3004

ObituaryMar 29, 2014  OBITUARY: WESTBOROUGH - George Gordon Dwyer, 87, of Fredericksburg, VA, formerly of Westborough, passed away quietly in his sleep on Tuesday, Mar. 4, 2014 at Woodmont Center.

Born in Taunton, Mass. on July 27, 1926 to the late Bernard and Villa Dwyer. A navy veteran of World War II, Gordon was the Senior Gunners Mate on the USS Prestige minesweeper. After the war he graduated from Tufts University, and resided in Mass. for 63 years. His livelihood was sociology and criminology. He served his communities in Mass. and Virginia working as a corrections officer, social worker, marriage counselor, probation officer and sheriff's deputy. He was active with the Red Cross, March of Dimes and politics. He was a member of the Westborough Militia Reenactment Group, Forty and Eight, Virginia Legion Post 320, the VFW, the National Rifle Association and the Virginia Defense Force, past commander of the Westborough American Legion Post # 163 and past veterans agent of Westborough. He helped to establish two war memorials in Westborough and one in Fredericksburg.

Survivors include his beloved wife of 64 years, Verna Mae Brown Dwyer of Fredericksburg; six children and their spouses, Bruce Dwyer and wife Carlene, Robert Dwyer and wife Janet, Janice Uhlman and husband Donald all of Fredericksburg, Jeffrey Dwyer and wife Diane of Davidson, NC, Thomas Dwyer and wife JoAnn of Westborough, MA, Laurie DeMalia and husband John of Hubbardston, MA, and daughter in-law Jeanne Silvious of Fredericksburg; sister Phyllis Westgate of Taunton, MA; 22 grandchildren; 24 great grandchildren, step grandchildren and nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his son Stephen Dwyer and a brother David Dwyer.

Gordon attended the Lake of the Woods Church in Locust Grove, Virginia and was a longtime member of the Congregational Church of Westborough.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, April 5, at 10:00 A.M. in The Congregational Church of Westborough, 57 West Main St., Westborough. Burial will follow in Pine Grove Cemetery, Westborough. ObituaryOct 17, 2007  OBITUARY: Bradley Hale Warren, 63, of Bemidji, died Monday, Oct. 15, 2007 at his home near Puposky.

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Cease Family Funeral Home in Bemidji with Daniel Frishman officiating. Another memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Oct. 28 at his farm with family and friends.


He was born Nov. 18, 1943, to Richard and Dorothy "Dot" (Brown) Warren in Concord, Mass. They moved to Barrington, N.H., in 1948, where his father was a professor at Durham University and they farmed 360 acres. He graduated from Dover High School in 1961. He graduated from Durham University in 1965 with a degree in business management and graduated with a master's degree from Duke University in 1970.

He met Anita Couture in 1960. They dated for six years and were married April 23, 1966. They had 4 children.

He was employed by Norbord Inc. in Solway from 1980 to 1995 as woodlands manager. From 1995 on, he had enjoyed his time as an independent logger.

He enjoyed nature, hunting, fishing and managing his forests. He was an ardent NASCAR dirt track race car enthusiast. He attended regional and national races.

He was a friend and volunteer and enjoyed helping others. He was a devoted Christian.

He is survived by his wife, Anita Warren; children, Rodney Hale Warren, Michael Earl Warren, Michelle Ann Warren and Kimberly Anita Warren; 10 grandchildren; brothers and sisters, Peter Warren, and Randy Warren; and sister, Ann Kost.
