ObituaryJan 3, 2012  OBITUARY: ST. ALBANS - Eleanor Bertine Kretzenger, 96, a longtime resident of this area, passed away Saturday, Dec. 31, 2011, at the Franklin County Rehab Center.
She was born on Sept. 20, 1915, in St. Albans. Eleanor was the daughter of the late Arthur and Eva (MacArthur) Hojaboom.
Eleanor was married to John O. "Big John" Kretzenger, who preceded her in death on Oct. 12, 1981.
She was employed as a Base Exchange Manager by the USAF (civil service) retiring in 1969. She has resided in this area since 1953, moving from New York. Eleanor was a member of St. Luke's Episcopal Church and a member of Service Seekers Circle of Kings Daughters. Since 1964, she was an active bowler belonging to several leagues. She was an avid fan of the Boston Celtics as well as the Atlanta Braves.
Survivors include her three children: Connie and Richard Price of Cheney, Wash., Michael and Judy Cantell of Enosburg, and Kathy Ann and Daniel Martin of Largo, Fla. She also leaves 12 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents and husband, Eleanor was preceded in death by her son, James Wallace "Wally" Cantell.
A graveside funeral service will be held later this spring at a time to be announced.
