She was born October 19, 1924 in Richford, VT, the daughter of Charles and Lottie (Thomas) Young. She was schooled in Richford and Newport, VT, and had worked at Weyerhaueser in Hancock for 20 years. Opal was an avid baker and loved her flowers, gardening, and sewing.

She is survived by her 6 daughters:Linda Wood, Carol Twitchell and Gloria Steventon of Rochester, Judy Desroches of Irasburg, Barbara Wood of Pownal and Mary Kresconko of Rutland; brother, Leslie Kennison of Newport; 12 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-granddaughters.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, March 12 at the Rochester Federated Church with Rev. Gregory Homan officiating.

A reception will follow in the church fellowship hall. Burial will be in the spring at Woodlawn Cemetery in Rochester. There are no calling hours.
