ObituaryJan 12, 2012  OBITUARY: So. Royalton— Frank H. Boles, 81, died Thursday, Jan. 5, 2012 at his home.
He was born September 22, 1930 in South Royalton, the son of John I. and Elizabeth M. (Rowell) Boles. He attended school in South Royalton and, at a young age, went to live with Frank and Isabelle McGinnis of South Royalton.

On May 16, 1953, he married Lois Bennett of Randolph Center. They lived all their married life in South Royalton.

He was a dairy farmer for many years, but also sold insurance for National Grange, and cut meat for Smith’s Store and Fran’s Food Store in South Royalton. He sold vegetables, eggs, milk, and Christmas trees. He was a justice of the peace in South Royalton.

He was a 60-year member of the Royalton Lodge #74 I.O.O.F. and a member of the White River Grange #53, Tunbridge Grange #384, and for many years, President of the Branch View Cemetery Assoc. in South Royalton. He enjoyed dowsing for water for people, vegetable gardening, and playing the fiddle.

Survivors include his wife, Lois of South Royalton; three daughters, Marsha Pecor and her husband Bill, of White River Jct., Joan Sherman and her husband Frank, of South Royalton, and Beverly Curulla and her husband Mark, of Tunbridge; nine grandchildren; several greatgrand­children; two brothers, Alexander Boles of South Royalton and Matthew Boles of Tunbridge; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was predeceased by five brothers: John, Donald, Robert, Ernest, and Leslie Boles; and two sisters, Louise Churchill and Gena Britch.

Calling hours were held Sunday, Jan. 8 at the Boardway & Cilley Funeral Home in Chelsea.

A funeral service was held Monday, Jan. 9 at the United Church in South Royalton, with Rev. Sam Newton officiating. Organist Judie Lewis led the congregation in singing the hymns, “Amazing Grace” and “How Great Thou Art.” A friend, Butch Howe, played songs on his fiddle in memory of Frank. Friends shared their memories and Rev. Newton read reflections from several family members. At the conclusion of the service, family and friends were invited to share fellowship and refreshments hosted by the church women.

The bearers were grandsons, Dana Colson Jr., Dean Salls Jr., Darrell Colson, Jeremy Colson, Adam Lyman and great-grandson, Colby Johnson.

Burial will be held later this spring in the Branch View Cemetery in South Royalton, with the Odd Fellows Lodge #74 conducting the burial service.
