ObituaryApr 15, 1974  OBITUARY: Claude Joseph Rountrey, 96, of 915 Oaklette Drive, Indian River, a retired form man of M.E. Stern Co. died Saturday in a nursing home.
A native of Gates County, N.C., he was a member of the Men's Bible Class of Oaklette United Methodist Church.
Survivors include four sons, Halstead Rountrey and W. Franklin Rountrey of Chesapeake, George W. Rountrey of Virginia Beach, and Claude J. Rountrey Jr. of Ormond Beach, Fla.
A funeral service will be held Tuesday at 3 p.m. in Oaklette United Methodist Church by the Rev. John Teter and the Rev. R. H. Potts III. Burial will be in Magnolia Cemetery. The body will be in church at 2 p.m. Tuesday.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to the Heart Fund or Oaklette Church Memorial Fund.

ROUNTREY, CLAUDE JOSEPH - At a Chesapeake nursing home Saturday night, CLAUDE JOSEPH ROUNTREY, husband of the late Florence Halstead Rountrey, and son of the late Simeon and Mrs. Sarah Hayes Rountrey, in the 97th year of his age. The body will be taken from Francis A. Gay Funeral Home to Oaklette United Methodist Church for a Funeral Service Tuesday (today) at 3 p.m. Burial will be in Magnolia Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions to the Heart Fund or Oaklette United Methodist Church Memorial Fund are suggested by the family.
