Mrs. Riddick was born in Gates County. The daughter of the late Luther Jake and Mrs. Annie Doshia Hobbs Ward, she was the retired co-owner and operator of Riddick and Riddick Grocery. She was a member of Sandy Cross Baptist Church. She was the wife of the late Jake A. Riddick.
Surviving are four daughters, Eloise R. Hollowell and Dolna R. Proctor, both of Hertford, Annie Marie Ward and Carolyn R. Harris, both of Suffolk; two sons, Albert Riddick of Hobbsville and Fred N. Riddick Sr. of Sunbury; two sisters, Edna White of Hobbsville and Myrtle Baker of Belvidere; a brother, Herman Ward of Hobbsville; 18 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a son, Howard Riddick.
Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Tuesday in Sandy Cross Baptist Church by the Rev. Vern Gilmer and her grandson, the Rev. Wayne Proctor. Burial will follow in the Riddick Family Cemetery with Miller Funeral Home, Gatesville, in charge of arrangements. Friends may join the family today from 7 to 8:30 p.m. in the funeral home and all other times at the residence.
