ObituaryNov 25, 2010  OBITUARY: SOUTH BURLINGTON - Emily M. Keefe, 77, passed away peacefully in her home on Nov. 23, 2010 surrounded by her loving family.

She was born on March 28, 1933 in North Clarendon, daughter of Herbert Wetherby and Mamie (Balch) Wetherby.

She graduated from Middletown Springs in the Class of '51. Following graduation she resided in Rutland, spending many happy years working as a waitress at Lindholm's Diner. It was there that she met her future husband, David J. Keefe, with whom she spent 51 years before his passing in July 2007. In the fall of '63, the family moved to South Burlington where they raised their three children. She was a long time employee of the South Burlington school system, working in the media center of Chamberlain Elementary School. Those were precious years to her, with good friends, good laughs and good memories. Emily's interests varied from crafts, cribbage, reading, birds, word searches, the daily jumble, game shows, shopping, going out to eat, traveling, computer, Facebook, Skype, family and friends.

Emily is survived by her three children, Tricia A. Smith (Ken) of Lake Wales, Fla., Diane K. Bacon (Dane) of South Burlington, and Kevin P. Keefe (Jane) of Auburn, N.H. She is also survived by her four grandsons, Ben and Scott Bacon and Travis and Kenan Smith; three grand- daughters, Brittany (who shared her birthday with Emily) and Nicole Keefe, and Chelsi Smith; and one great-grandson, Trevin Smith. From a large family, (1 of 16 children) Emily is survived by her siblings, Helen Rogers, Beverly Reardon, Roland, Ockie, Edward, Bruce and Mike Wetherby; as well as several nieces and nephews.

A Funeral Mass is scheduled for Saturday, Nov. 27, 2010 at 11 a.m. in St. John Vianney Church, Hinesburg Road, South Burlington, with a Christian Burial to follow in Resurrection Park Cemetery.

Arrangements are in the care of Stephen C. Gregory & Son Cremation Services, Shelburne.
