ObituarySep 18, 1987  OBITUARY: Larry Gene Barnes died from an auto accident that happened on Hwy. 47 between Forest Grove and Gaston, OR on Sept. 16, 1987. He died at St. Vincent Hospital - Portland, OR. His son Todd was 18 years old & Greg was 13 years old at the time of his death. He was raised in Pauls Valley, OK. He loved fishing, hunting, & camping. from Pauls Valley High School in 1964.

Larry was in the US Navy and did his basic training in San Diego, CA. Then was stationed in Norfolk, VA aboard the USS Grant County LST 1174 from Dec. 1966 until his honorable discharge (rank EM2) Sept. 1969. He worked at Western Electric in Okla. City until 1975 when they had a lay off. Moved to Forest Grove, Oregon (where Shirly's parents lived), went to PCC college, and went to work for Tektronix Electronics in Beaverton, Oregon. In 1987 had just gotten a job as a rural mail carrier at Gaston, Oregon - was still in training and learning his route.

Larry had a younger brother, Raymond that died from an auto accident also in Dec. 1967 - in the middle of his senior year of high school. Raymond and Larry's parents are all three buried at the Whitebead Cemetery, Pauls Valley, Oklahoma. Larry also has two other brothers - Jerry Lynn & Merle Barnes, & one sister, Virginia Day, all three live in Oklahoma.

We all miss Larry very much, Shirly Dehart Barnes Euler.
