ObituaryDec 10, 2001  OBITUARY: MRS. DORIS I. MACHIA, 87, a resident of Cook Road, died Friday morning, December 7, 2001, in the Northwestern Medical Center in St. Albans, VT.

She was born in Sheldon April 2, 1914, the daughter of the late John and Nellie (Rice) Corwell. She attended Sheldon schools and on August 13, 1929, married Donald Machia, who predeceased her on December 20, 1985.

For many years, Mrs. Machinia lived in the Troy, N.Y., area, returning to Vermont in 1988. She was a member of saint Louis Roman Catholic Church in Highgate Center.

Mrs. Machia leaves six daughters and their husbands, Lorraine and George Plouffe of St. Albans, Beverly and Marcel Desorcie of St. Albans, Priscilla and John White of Fairfield, Eleanor and Clyde Snedecor of Cohoes, NY., Sandra White of Sheldon and Diane and George Vautrin of Cohoes, NY; three sons, Thornton and Earl Machia of East Highgate and Donald Machia of the Troy, NY area. Also surviving are 36 grandchildren, 58 great-grandchildren, 26 great-great-grandchldren, and several
nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by a son, Wendell Machia on April 24, 1990 and a daughter-in-law, Frances Machia on March 22, 2001.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Wednesday, December 12, 2001, at 11 a.m. from Saint Louis Roman Catholic Church, Lamkin Street, Highgate Center. The pastor, Father John J. Meagher, SSE will be the celebrant and homilist. Interment will follow in Saint Louis Cemetery. Friends may call at the Kidder Memorial Home, 89 Grand Avenue, Swanton on Tuesday, December 11, 2001 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Gifts in Mrs. Machia’s memory may be made to the charity of one’s choice.
