ObituaryOct 21, 2013  OBITUARY: Geraldine Terese Brennan, 82, died Oct. 20, 2013, at Our House Residential Care Home.

She was born in Rutland, March 26, 1931, the only child of Alberic and Esther (Sevigny) Guindon.

"Gerry" was a graduate of Mount St. Joseph Academy in 1949, and Fanny Allen School of Nursing in 1952. She worked at Rutland Hospital on the pediatric floor until she met the love of her life, Thomas Brennan. After a brief courtship they were married Oct. 17, 1953, in Christ the King Church.

Gerry and Tom resided on South Main Street, where they raised their children. She was a stay-at-home mom and also cared for her parents, who shared the same house. After her children graduated from high school and left the house, she and Tom built a new home in Castleton, where they lived for 10 years.

They loved Vermont and yearned to be "in the country." This led them to purchase a farmhouse in Benson, which they renovated over several years. After experiencing enough of "country life," they moved back to the Castleton area. Because of progressing Alzheimer's disease, they returned to Rutland City to be closer to family.

Gerry was an accomplished painter whose talents were passed down to her daughters. She and Tom loved nothing better than to get in the car in search of diners throughout Vermont. Some say that there was an invisible force field surrounding Vermont that prevented them from traveling beyond its borders.

Surviving are her husband of 60 years, Thomas E. Brennan of Rutland; three daughters, Mary Trono and her husband, Dick of Rutland, Carol Pinney and her husband, David of Rutland, and Jean Brennan of Mount Holly; seven grandchildren, Jason Adams, Tom Adams, Joseph Trono, Anne Trono, Sarah Pinney, Robert Pinney and Serenity Pinney.

She was predeceased by a daughter, Anne Terese Brennan.

Services will be held at the convenience of the family.

Burial will be held in Calvary Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to Vt. Alzheimer's Association., 300 Cornerstone Drive, Williston, VT 05495.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Clifford Funeral Home.
