ObituaryJun 6, 2006  OBITUARY: SOUTH ROYALTON Ronald Earl "Tiny" Quillia Sr., 68, died Friday, June 2, 2006, at Fletcher-Allen Medical Center in Burlington of lung disease.
He was born July 25, 1937, in South Royalton, the son of Earl and Louise (Potwin) Quillia. He grew up on his father's chicken farm on Route 14.
He worked at Files and Rice Veneer Mill in Bethel, and later at Stanley Tool in Pittsfield, where he worked for more than 35 years, retiring in 2002.
He was a member of the Royalton Congregational Church, where he served as deacon for many years. He was also a member of the Odd Fellow Lodge #74 in Royalton since age 17.
He loved the Red Sox, snowmobiling, his tractors, four-wheeling, camping, fishing, hunting and swimming.
He is survived by his wife, Flora (Gray) ,Quillia of South Royalton; two sons, Ron Quillia Jr. of Perkinsville and , Jeff Quillia of East Braintree; three daughters, Debra Welch of South Royalton, Wendy Sawyer of Cummington, Mass., and Sadie Letrault of South Royalton; four stepsons, Russell Finkle of Royalton, Carl Finkle of Torrington, Conn., Brett Finkle of Bristol, Conn., and Doug Finkle of Randolph; three stepdaughters, Gladys Curtis of Enfield, N.H., Shirley Johnson of Randolph and Heidi Carlson of Concord, N.H; and nine grandchildren, step-grandchildren and great-grandchildren, including a great-granddaughter born the day he died.
He was predeceased by his second wife, Tina Sawyer Quillia; a granddaughter, Susanne Dodge; and a step-daughter, Julie Finkle.
Calling hours will be Tuesday, June 6, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Boardway & Cilley Funeral Home in Chelsea. A funeral service will be Wednesday, June 7, at 2 p.m. at the Royalton Congregational Church with the Rev. Warren Gorman officiating.
Burial will be held at a later date in the Fairview Cemetery in Bethel.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Royalton Congregational Church, P.O. Box 804, Royalton, VT 05068.
