ObituaryFeb 5, 2010  OBITUARY: WILLIAMSTOWN - Robert E. "Bob" Dolan, 88, died Wednesday night, Feb. 3, 2010, at Rowan Court Nursing Home in Barre. He was born Aug. 1, 1921, in Bakersfield, the son of Dennis and Bessie (Daigue) Dolan. He attended school in Bakersfield and at the age of 17 earned an automotive mechanic certificate. Bob was a veteran of World War II serving in the U.S. Army. Dec. 27, 1945, he married Gladys L. Marcy of Enosburg. They lived in Bakersfield where he worked for Chauncey Start Garage for many years. Later he worked at the Woodstock Garage and then for a short time he owned and operated Dolan Texaco in Wilder. Bob finished his career at Chouinard Garage in Barre where he worked for several years before his retirement in 1978.

He enjoyed hunting, playing bingo, camping, playing cards with friends and family and most of all spending time with his grandchildren. He was a life member of the Disabled American Veterans, the American Legion Post #26 in White River Jct. as well as the Post in Enosburg.

He is survived by his wife of Williamstown, four daughters, Lucille M Churchill and her husband Tim of South Royalton, Patricia A. Blakeney and her husband Raymond of Bethel, Donna L. Harris and her husband Tony of Worcester, and Pamela J. Fifield of Bethel; also 10 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, two sister-in-laws, Beatrice Longe and Bernice Longley both of Enosburg and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a grandson Joshua Northrup, a great-granddaughter, Chelsea Blakeney, four brothers, Kenneth, Ralph, Daniel and Raymond Dolan, a sister-in-law, Doris Rhodes, and a brother-in-law, Ethan Marcy.

Funeral services will be held Saturday Feb. 6, at 2 p.m. at the Tunbridge Church on Route 110 in Tunbridge. Calling hours will be held at the church one hour prior to the funeral service from 1 - 2 p.m. Burial will be held later in the springtime in the Stevens Ferry Cemetery in Enosburg. Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, VT & NH Chapter, 172 N. Main Street, Barre, VT 05641-4124.
