ObituaryMar 10, 1979  OBITUARY: PLATTSBURGH - Elizabeth M. Champagne, 77, of Oak Street, died Friday at the CVPH Medical Center after a long illness.

She was the widow of Eugene E. Champagne and was born in Swanton, Vt., August 23, 1901, the daughter of the late Elijah and Clara (Sweeney) Gifford. She lived in Plattsburgh since 1930.

She survived by two sons, Edward E. Champagne of Scarsdale, Penn. and Eugene E. Champagne of Bussels, Belgium; five daughters, Mrs. Grace Edwards of Scranton, Penn., Mrs. Raymon (Ethel) Shepard of Plattsburgh, Mrs. Raymond (Virginia) Young of Middleburg, N.Y., Mrs. Robert (Thelma) Manley of Plattsburgh and Mrs. John (Patricia) Figart of Plattsburgh; 13 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

Mrs. Champagne was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star and Order of the Amaranth.

Calling hours at the Brown Funeral Home will be today from 7 to 9 p.m. and Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Funeral services will be Monday at 9 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be in the spring in Riverside Cemetery.

Members of the Order of Amaranth are asked to meet at the funeral home Sunday at 7:30 p.m. and members of the Eastern Star are asked to meet Sunday at 8 p.m.
