ObituaryDec 5, 2007  OBITUARY: Daniel J. Truland, 84, of Lancaster NH, passed away on Dec. 3, 2007, at the home of his daughter and son-in-law Mo and Gil Rainault in Guildhall VT.

Mr. Truland was born in Lancaster on February 17, 1923, the son of Daniel James and Mary (Robinson) Truland. Dan was a lifetime resident of Lancaster, graduating from Lancaster Academy in 1941. He also gradated from Holy Cross in 1944 and attended Rutgers University and the University of New Hampshire.

During World War II he served with the U.S. Army. For 39 years he was co-owner of F.B. Spaulding Company in Lancaster. He served his community well as a Boy Scout leader, trustee of Weeks Memorial Hospital, Lancaster National Bank Director, Weeks Hospital Volunteer, installed Lifeline systems, and was a longtime member of the Lancaster Ambulance Corp. In 1988 he was voted Lancaster Citizen of the Year. He also worked as a funeral attendant at Bailey Funeral Home in Lancaster for many years. He was a Communicant of All Saints Church in Lancaster and a Fourth Degree Knight in the Knights of Columbus. He was a life member of the American Radio Relay League, Quarter Century Wireless Association, Civil Air Patrol, American Motorcyclist Association, and Whitefield American Legion.

Surviving family members include his wife of 53 years, Shirley (Moulton) Truland of Lancaster; sons Kevin Truland and wife Colleen of Lancaster, Bruce Truland and wife Yao of Lancaster, Earl Truland and wife Sharon of Riverhead NY, and Alan Truland of Dalton; daughters Lynnette Siteman and husband Frank, of Winchester MA, Maureen Rainault and husband Gil of Guildhall VT, and Kathy Truland of Lancaster; grandchildren Jacob Cote, Jonathan Ingerson, Jason Truland, Ben Ingerson and wife Koryn, Taylor Ingerson, Jordan Chester and husband Jason, Matt Truland, Jillian Bessette, Tyler Grieves, and Genna Truland; great-granddaughter-to-be Lillian Ingerson; and his only sister, Sister Maureen (Margaret) Truland OSB, who lives in Clyde MO.
