ObituaryFeb 29, 1996  OBITUARY: LEICESTER - Francis W. "Fran" Nims, 75, of 10 Dale St., died Tuesday in St. Vincent Hospital after a brief illness.

He leaves his second wife, Lucille M. (Baird) Nims; a son, Wade Nims of Worcester; a daughter, Barbara J. Nims-Lawrence of Plymouth; a stepson, Richard Delauri of Charlton; 2 stepdaughters, Patricia Dufresne of Whitinsville, and Susan Hoby of Worcester; ten grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren. He was born in Worcester, son of Phillip and Olive Nims and lived in Rochdale for the past 31 years. His first wife, Marsha E. (Hardy) Nims, died in 1988. He graduated from Auburn High School in 1938 and from the Wentworth Institute in Boston.

Mr. Nims was the supervisor of maintenance at Fairlawn Hospital for more than 20 years before he retired. Previously, he worked at Shepard Envelope Co. in Worcester for 17 years.

Mr. Nims was a Navy veteran of World War II serving in the South Pacific.

He was a member of the Pakachoag Community Church in Auburn and the Hadwen Park Congregational Church in Worcester. He was a life member of the V.F.W. in Oxford; and a former member of the Auburn Grange.

Funeral Services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday in the Britton-Wallace Funeral Home, 91 Central St. Burial will be in Hillside Cemetery, Auburn. Calling hours will be from 6 to 9 p.m. tomorrow at the funeral home. Memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, Massachusetts Division, 7 Oak St., Worcester 01609.
