ObituaryFeb 6, 2010  OBITUARY: LUDLOW – Earl A. Patterson Sr., of Ludlow, died Feb. 2, 2010, at the Vermont Veterans Home in Bennington after a long illness.

He was born Nov. 29, 1928, in Hartford, the son of Addison and Marjorie (Corinth) Patterson. He received his education in White River Junction. He served his country during the time of the Korean War, stationed in Iceland in the Army Infantry. He was very proud of the various roads that he helped to build while he worked for Putnam Construction, and later he worked until he retired for Sailor Brothers in Plymouth as a heavy machinery operator, which also gave him much joy.

He married Marjorie Corey on May 4, 1951. Together they had seven children, 19 grandchildren, 38 great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.

Mr. Patterson enjoyed hunting, fishing and watching "M*A*S*H" on television.

He is survived by his children, Kathy Hart of Ludlow, Earl Patterson Jr., David Patterson Sr. and Valarie Hayes, all of Proctorsville, Lori DeCato of Chester, Wanda Patterson of Rutland and Kirby Patterson of Springfield; a sister, Beverly Wheelock of Claremont, N.H; a brother, Charles Beauregard of Hartland.

He was predeceased by his parents, his wife, a daughter, Jennie Tolth, five brothers, a sister and his stepmother, Annie Patterson.

A prayer service and reception will be held at 11:30 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 13, at the Belmont Odd Fellows Hall in Belmont. A committal service will be held at a later date.

Memorial donations, in lieu of flowers, may be made to Ludlow Rescue Squad.
