ObituaryMay 23, 2011  OBITUARY: BOW - Mary Lougee, 73, of Bow, died Saturday, May 21, 2011 at Concord Hospital after a brief illness. She was born in Concord, the daughter of the late Earl and Lena (Bourdon) Hoitt. She lived in Bow since 1960 with her husband of 53 years, Robert J., where they raised four children.

A graduate of St. John's High School in 1955, Mary attended, and graduated from the New Hampshire Hospital School of Nursing in 1958 and then from New England College in 1974. Mary worked at New Hampshire Hospital from 1958 to 1997 when she retired as Director of Nursing for Psychiatric Nursing Home Services.

Mary volunteered through out the community and was an active member of St. Peter's Church. She was a founding member of the Bow Rescue squad which she volunteered with for 20 years and served, until recently on the Ambulance oversite committee for the town of Bow. Mary was also a CPR Instructor Trainer.

Part of her volunteer work included working to restore and identify the unmarked graves at New Hampshire Hospital. She was as a member of the New Hampshire Hospital School of Nursing Alumni Association; American Nurses Association; New Hampshire Nurses Association; National Association Directors of Nursing Administration for Long Term Care; New Hampshire Association of Directors of Nursing Administration for Long Term Care; the Long Term Care Forum; as well as Sigma Theta Tau National Nursing Honor Society, Epsilon Tau Chapter and the Ladies Auxiliary of the Bow Fire Department and Bow Young at Heart Seniors Club.

She is survived by her husband Robert J Lougee; and her four children, Tom Lougee of Bow, Cindy Lougee of Memphis, Tenn., Peter Lougee of San Antonio, Texas, and Margaret Lougee of Bow; two grandchildren; one great-grandchild, and a brother Michael E. Hoitt of Penacook.

Calling hours will be held Tuesday, May 24, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at Bennett Funeral Home, 209 North Main Street, Concord.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Wednesday, May 25 at 10 a.m. at St. Peter's Church, 135 N State St, Concord.

Burial will follow at Evans Cemetery in Bow.
