ObituaryNov 18, 2009  OBITUARY: ENOSBURG FALLS / BERKSHIRE - Audrey T. Couture, age 80, passed away Tuesday, November 17, 2009, at Our Lady of the Meadows facility in Richford with her family at her side.
She was born September 27, 1929 in Boston, MA the daughter of the late Frederick & Rose (Roberts) Tourangeau.

Audrey was a graduate of Richford High School class of 1947. She married Martin Couture on October 23, 1947; he predeceased her on February 9, 1987. Audrey & Martin owned and operated a dairy farm in North Berkshire for several years and had received numerous quality milk awards. She also served as Assistant Town Clerk for the Town of Berkshire, and Bookkeeper for the Berkshire School System. She was a former member of the Berkshire School Board of Directors. She was a 61 year member and Past President of the American Legion Auxiliary Post #42 of Enosburg as well as holding other offices within the auxiliary. She was an American Red Cross Volunteer and the former Treasurer for the Richford High School Alumni Association. She was also a 27 year member of the 8 & 40, and the cribbage league at the American Legion. Audrey was an avid reader, enjoyed playing cards and loved family gatherings.

She is survived by her children, Donald Couture of Berkshire, Deborah Tipper and her husband James of Berkshire, Michael Couture and his wife Mary of Berkshire, and Cynthia Dunakin and her husband Alton of Richford; 9 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; her siblings, Robert "Sonny" Tourangeau of New York, Caroline Mason and her husband Jack of Jasper, AL, Virginia Jenkens of Lebanon Jct., KY, Eva Durkee of Stowe, Diane Michaud of Lady Lake, FL, Frederick Tourangeau, Jr of Wolcott, Lita Merritt of Morrisville, and Phillip Tourangeau and his wife Dawna of Ogden, UT; 2 sisters-in-law, Lorraine (Tourangeau) Pease of Dade City, FL, and Luella Couture of South Burlington; several nieces and nephews including her Friday night dinner partner, Jeannette Bosley. Besides her parents and husband, Audrey was predeceased by her brothers, Marcel and Edmund Tourangeau, a sister, Constance Stadmeuller; and her brothers-in-law & sisters-in-law, Dolora & Paul St. Germain, Cecil & Egan Pedersen, John & Anne Couture, Rosaire & Bernice Couture, Alfred & Peggy Couture, Simone & David Bridge, Marguerite & Albert Jutras, Gerard & Marie Couture & Damien Couture.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, November 21, 2009 at 11:00 AM at All Saints Catholic Church in Richford with Rev. Karl Hahr celebrating the Mass of Christian burial. Interment will follow in All Saints Cemetery.

Visiting hours will be held Friday from 4-7 PM at the Spears Funeral Home, 96 Dickinson Ave., Enosburg Falls.
