ObituaryJan 27, 2003  OBITUARY: ALBURG/SWANTON -- Hazel Mulheron Allen, 84, a native of Swanton and more recently of Alburg, died early Friday evening, Jan. 24, 2003, in Redstone Villa in St. Albans City.

She was born in Swanton, Sept. 8, 1918, the daughter of the late Ezra and Ella (Lashway) Mulheron. She attended the former St. Anne's Academy and in 1936 was married to James William Allen II who predeceased her Dec. 23, 1990.

Prior to her retirement Hazel had been associated over many years with Pearl's Department Store, Swanton Rexall, Ben Franklin's and Softlite, all of Swanton. She was a lifelong parishioner of The Church of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary in Swanton and since living in Alburg attended St. Amadeus Roman Catholic Church in Alburg Village.

Hazel leaves four daughters, Ellen Beatrice Jones and her husband Donald of Issue, Maryland, Barbara Lea Hackett of Crossville, Tenn., Donna Ruth Marshall-Patch and her friend John Potts of St. Albans and Susan Margaret Jacques and her husband Paul of Alburg with whom Hazel made her home for the past 15 years; two sons, James William Allen III and his wife Jean of Granite City, Ill. and Joseph Ezra Allen and his wife Debby of Swanton; a sister, Mrs. Ida Rae Barney and her husband Gerald of Swanton; two brothers, Anthony Ralph Mulheron and Ezra Mulheron and his wife Lorraine all of Swanton; a brother-in-law, George Rocheleau of St. Albans; 20 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by a son, Christopher Allen in 1968, as well as two sisters, Mildred Brennan and husband Gilbert and Harriet Rocheleau and a brother, Arthur Mulheron and wife Madeline.

A Mass of Christian Burial, celebrated by Father Maurice U. Boucher, SSE in St. Amadeus Roman Catholic Church, will be announced at a later date in the spring followed by interment in the Allen family lot in Riverside Cemetery Swanton.
