She was born in Mount Holly on September 25, 1915, daughter of Herbert and Bertha (Davenport) Harris.

She attended Rutland High School.

Etta had a long, healthy and fulfilling life. She held many jobs and spent much of her time helping other people. She was actively involved with various community services for many years. Etta was very involved with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and loved all the family activities.

She is survived by a son, Edward R. Garrow and wife Jean of Shrewsbury; two daughters, Betty Ann (Hill) Harrison and husband Richard of Ludlow, and Jean M. (Hill) Glidden and husband David, also of Ludlow; and a daughter-in-law, Lucinda Garrow of Shrewsbury. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Dawn Garrow, Wanda Trinci, Cindy Tuomisto, William H. Garrow, Christine Billings, Edward R. Garrow, Jr., Eric Garrow, Angelia Foster, and Joseph Garrow, as well as 14 great-grandchildren and nine great-great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews and first cousin Dr. Lawrence Staples of Des Moines, Iowa.

Besides her parents, she was predeceased by two husbands, Gunnar A. Hill and Winfred Dean; her two sons, Louis Garrow and William Herbert Garrow; three sisters, Dorothy Garrow, Ruth Hewitt and Marion Buzzell; a brother, Alfred Harris; and a great-grandson, Jacob Billings.

There will be no calling hours.

The funeral service will be held at the Cavendish Baptist Church on Saturday, Oct. 15, at 1 p.m. in Cavendish, followed by a Celebration of her life at the Proctorsville Fire Station in Proctorsville. All are welcome.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to the Black River Valley Senior Center, 10 High Street , Ludlow, VT 05149, or a charity of your choice.

Adams Funeral Home in Ludlow has been entrusted with the arrangements.
