ObituaryJan 27, 2003  OBITUARY: LAKELAND, Fla. - William E. Faughnan Sr., 74, formerly of White River Junction, Vt., and Hanover, N.H., died Jan. 27, 2003, at Sullivan County Nursing Home in Unity, N.H.

He was born Feb. 2, 1928, in Springfield, Mass., the son of Charles and Doris (Hunt) Faughnan.

He received his education in Springfield, Mass.

He married Opal Blake on July 4, 1949, in Bellows Falls.

Mr. Faughnan worked for the Boston & Maine Railroad for more that 40 years, retiring to Florida in 1998.

He was a licensed FCC advanced class radio operator and a former member of the Connecticut Valley FM Association in Claremont, N.H., and the American Radio Relay League in Kensington, Ky. He was a former member of the B&M Historical Society, the Massachusetts Bay Railroad Club and the Irish American Club in Charlestown, N.H.

Survivors include two sons, William Faughnan Jr. of Rensselaer, N.Y., and James Faughnan of Norwich, Vt; four daughters, June Brunelle of Unity, N.H., Diane Faughnan of Lebanon, N.H., Doris Faughnan of Grafton, N.H., and Sherry Faughnan of Scarborough, Maine; two brothers, James Faughnan and Victor Faughnan, both of Santee, Calif; a sister, Linda Hart of Lake City; a stepbrother, Ora Grant of Lakeland; eight grandchildren; three great - grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his wife in 1996.

The graveside service will be held Friday at 11 a.m. in Oak Hill Cemetery in Bellows Falls, Vt.

Friends may call Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Knight Funeral Home in White River Junction.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Connecticut Valley Model Railroad Club, in care of John Rogers, Treasurer, 21 Summer St., Lebanon, N.H., 03766.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Knight Funeral Home in White River Junction.
