ObituaryJan 7, 2002  OBITUARY: PALMER - John M. ''Coupe'' Wegiel, Sr., 83, of S. Main St. and formerly of Bondsville, was called safely home on Jan. 4, 2002 at home. He was the son of the late Walter E. & Mary (Bubon) Wegiel, and was born on Jan. 17, 1918 in Bondsville, MA. Before retiring in the summer of 1972, he had worked most of his life as a laborer in the field of construction. He was an honored World War II Army veteran. He was a lifetime member of the Swift River Sportmen's Club. John enjoyed going to the many field trials with is wife and friend, Walter Kulig where his ''coon'' dogs received many awards. He was an avid hunter and enjoyed the great outdoors. He was a communicant of St. Thomas Church. John was a devoted family man and friend.

He was predeceased by his devoted wife, Rita (Pierce-Holcomb) Wegiel in 1986. He is survived by his 3 loving sons, John M. Wegiel, Jr. of Belchertown, Mark A. Wegiel of Three Rivers & Donald Holcomb of Ware. He also leaves daughters, Norma Ann Jutras of Wales and Elizabeth Tereska of Palmer & his beloved dog, Peaches. He also leaves his sister, Irene Beaupre of CT; a brother, Stephen Wegiel of FL, also 19 grandchildren and many great-grandchildren whom he was very proud of. He was also predeceased by a daughter, Marie E. Lazarick. A funeral service will be Wed. at 10 a.m. in the Beers & Story Palmer Funeral Home. Burial is in Oak Knoll Cemetery.
