ObituaryOct 28, 2006  OBITUARY: Gerard L. St. Hilaire, 84, of Kingston NH, died October 27, 2006, at the Haven Health Center in Hampton NH after a lengthy illness. He was born on April 27, 1922, in Standon, Quebec, Canada, the son of the late Edmund and Dianna (Dion) St. Hilaire. Gerard moved from Canada to Hardwick VT in 1928. He completed the 8th grade in Lisbon NH before becoming a woodsman to help support his family of twelve. In 1942, Gerard enlisted in the U.S. Army Air Corps. During WWII he served as a crew chief on A-20 and B-25 bombers before his discharge in 1945. After the war he was employed at the Rock of Ages quarry in Barre VT. In 1951 he became a certified airline pilot for Caledonia Airways in St. Johnsbury VT. He was later employed as a pilot for Northeast Airlines, National Airlines, and Delta Airlines before retiring in 1977. He moved to New Hampshire in 1953 and was a Kingston resident since 1957 and for many years wintered in Florida. A member of the Gideon Masonic Lodge in Kingston, he was a 32nd Degree Mason and Bektash Shriner. He was also a member of the American Legion Davis Post in Plaistow NH. A lifetime member of the National Rifle Association, he was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed many activities including hunting, fishing, and camping. He also loved to play cards and was a six time cribbage champion. Other hobbies include piloting his personal Lake Amphibian seaplane and traveling all over the United States and Canada with his wife Miriam in an RV.

He was predeceased by a son Philip M. St. Hilaire, who died in 1976.

Gerard is survived by his wife of 63 years, Miriam (Trevena) St. Hilaire; daughter Linda St. Hilaire of Marietta GA; sons Wayne St. Hilaire and wife Kathy of Brentwood NH; Richard D. St. Hilaire and wife Vivian of Kingston NH, and Craig K. St. Hilaire and wife Amy of Barrington NH; grandchildren Alyssa, Cynthia, Michelle, Jenna, Kristin, Nicole, and Joshua; great-grandchildren Gregory, Madelyn, and Kaylee.
