Born on June 9, 1923 in Claremont, New Hampshire where he attended public schools, graduating from Stevens High School in 1941. He then attended Northampton Business College in Northampton, MA until entering the Army on 2/17/43. He served in the European Theatre of Operation - Northern France, Rhineland, Ardennes and Central Europe. He was wounded during the fighting of the Battle of the Bulge for which he received a Purple Heart. He was discharged on 12/16/45. He received engineering degrees from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in Troy, NY and Case Institute of Technology in Cleveland, OH. He is a member of Tau Beta Pi (Engineering Honor Society) and Sigma Xi (Scientific Research Society). He worked for DuPont DeNemours & Co., Inc. for thirty-five years in managerial positions at Cleveland, OH; East Chicago, IN; Augusta, GA, and Belle, WV. He worked out of Wilmington, DE for the last fifteen years with DuPont as Facilities Planning Manager and was responsible for designing, constructing and starting up pharmaceutical and chemical plants in Colombia, Brazil, Venezuela, Mexico, Taiwan, Indonesia, Thailand, England, France, The Philippines, Australia, New Zealand, Puerto Rico and South Africa. He spent the last three years as a consultant with his own company, DECOSU.

He loved being an engineer and had hopes that one of his grandchildren would study engineering and follow in his footsteps. He also enjoyed boating and sailing. Always an avid boater, his real passion came with sailing. He had many fond memories of his 'rent to buy' 47 foot Morgan that he docked and sailed throughout the British Virgin Island. Later, he sailed the Chesapeake Bay and eventually brought the boat to FL. Many pleasant days were spent on this sailboat.

He played golf at the Cape Coral Golf and Tennis Resort for about ten years. He was active in the Men's Golf Association where he served as secretary and then president of the group. He also served as president of the Beach Parkway Association for two years. He loved working out at the gym, swimming and walking.

Surviving are his loving wife of 60 years, Jeanne, of Cape Coral, FL, his two sons; Ronald of Vienna, VA and Jeffery of Greenville, SC and six grandchildren; Daniel and Jonathan in Va. and Katharine in Atlanta, GA, Anne in Charlotte, NC and Kent and Mark in Greenville, SC. He also has a brother, Winfield, of Lincroft, NJ.
