ObituaryApr 4, 2010  OBITUARY: LITCHFIELD - George J. Boucher Sr., 83, a well-known Litchfield businessman, died unexpectedly at his home March 29. 2010.

He was born in Nashua Sept. 10, 1926, to Arthur J. and Eva E. (Tremblay) Boucher.

He was educated in Hudson and Nashua schools and later attended the former Nashua Business College. During World War II, he served a tour of duty with the U.S. Navy. In the 1940s, he and his father and three brothers raised more than 30,000 chickens in the greater Hudson area. He worked for the former Imelda & Harry Drycleaners and Palmers Drycleaners.

In 1964, he built several greenhouses on his property in Litchfield and began Boucher's Florist & Greenhouses. He was a member of the American Legion Post 48 of Hudson and attended both St. John The Evangelist Church in Hudson and Infant Jesus Church in Nashua.

Family members include his wife of 52 years, Beverly (McQuesten) Boucher; four children, George J. Boucher Jr. of Hudson, Dana Boucher, Sharon Greenhalgh and Mary Boucher, of Litchfield; eight grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; a sister, Lucille I. Kinville of Nashua; nieces, nephews and cousins.

SERVICES: Calling hours are Monday from 4 to 8 p.m. in Farwell Funeral Home, 18 Lock St., Nashua.

A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Tuesday at 11 a.m. in Blessed John XXIII Parish at St. John The Evangelist Church, 27 Library St., Hudson.

Friends are invited to gather at the church.
