| Obituary | Oct 20, 1876 | OBITUARY: MRS. ANNETTE C. RICE, 44, wife of William Johnson, a merchant at Milton, Florida, died of heart disease in a drawing room car on September 15, 1876, near Akron, Ohio. She was born in Reading, Vermont, and was a niece of Rev. S. A. Davis of Hartford, Conn., formerly of Bethel, in whose family she resided for several years in her girlhood. She went south to teach before the war, married and settled in Milton, Fla., where she was greatly loved by a large circle of friends, beside her own family. Her health failed several months ago and her husband brought her north in the early summer hoping that a change of climate and scenery, and a visit with her kindred, would benefit her health, but she was able to go no farther than the house of one sister in Massachusetts. She spent a few weeks in Hartford, but growing feeble, her husband started with her for her southern home, where five children were anxiously waiting to greet a loving mother.
