| Obituary | Dec 6, 2022 | OBITUARY: ENOSBURGH – James Donald Poirier died unexpectedly at his home on the hill on December 3, 2022. Jim was born on March 21, 1959 to Donald Joseph Poirier and Virginia Marie (Walsh) Poirier in Attleboro, Massachusetts. He grew up on Fremont Street in Plainville, MA in a close-knit family neighborhood. Jim told great tales of adventure from his childhood, spear fishing near the rocks, trapping, hunting, fishing, hunting and reselling golf balls, and some imaginative explosive events. He disliked school, but was happy to read encyclopedias and research everything he thought of. He left Massachusetts and moved to Vermont leaving a bit of troubled life behind, turning over a new leaf. He took on step-parenting four children, and had three of his own. He eventually became a single Dad of his 3 boys, and his 4 step-children. He met Terry, who had 3 children of her own, and they were drawn together from so many mutual connections. They were married on June 17, 2000 and shared a full life together for 22 years. Jim & Terry shared a loved for family, gardening, hiking, biking, running, the ocean, and warmer winters! His love for all of his family was huge, clearly the patriarch. Quick to give his opinion, a hug, and his booming laugh was a trademark. Jim is survived by his wife, Terry Poirier of Enosburgh; his children, Henry Poirier, Jacob Poirier, and Birch Poirier and his wife Abbigayle; step-children, Lara Robtoy and her husband Jason, Emma Cushing and her husband Randy Holowaty, Avery Stanley and his wife Megan, Crystal Devrow, David Devrow, Frances Luce and her husband Kris, and Dillon Devrow and his wife Stacey; grandchildren, Kallie, Nat, Lilly, Lisey, Colleen, Cayden, Wyatt, Eddie, Ryker, Emory & Oliver; his siblings, Judy Poirier, Michael Poirier, and Jackie Connor and her husband Brian; his special cousins, the Johnsons, David, Stephen, Roxanne, and Cindy; brother-in-law, Richard Murphy and his wife Melody, and Brian Connor; Nieces & Nephews, Michaela Curran and her husband Tim, Donald Poirier, Stephen Poirier, Ben Poirier, Liam Connor, Maggie Connor, Shelly Boe and her husband Jahn, and Richard Murphy and his wife Jen. Jim was predeceased by his parents, Donald & Virginia Poirier; a very special aunt, Lillian Loiselle; father-in-law, Edgar Murphy; and a brother-in-law, Michael “Harry” J. Harris. Friends & family are invited to Jim’s life celebration to include visitation from 10-11:00 AM with a funeral service to follow at 11:00 AM on Saturday, December 10, 2022 at the Goss-Spears Life Celebration Home, 96 Dickinson Ave., Enosburg Falls, VT.
