ObituaryAug 2, 2004  OBITUARY: ENOSBURG FALLS -- Leslie G. Longe, age 86, passed away Sunday, Aug. 1, 2004, at the Northwestern Medical Center in St. Albans.

He was born March 3, 1918, in Enosburg Falls, the son of the late George and Cora (L'Ecuyer) Longe.

Leslie was a life long resident of Franklin County. He was employed at E.M. Hayes in Enosburg, Missisquoi Pulp Mill in Sheldon Springs, the Carroll Wilson Farm in St. Albans, the A.C. Hewey Farm in Milton, he also operated a dairy farm in Georgia for 20 years; and worked at Pierce's Turkey Farm in Georgia. His final employment was with the Georgia Elementary School as a bus driver and custodian for 25 years retiring in 1983. While living in Georgia he attended Ascension Catholic Church and was a member of the Georgia Fire Dept. and had served as Chief for a period of time. He was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Enosburg Falls.

He is survived by two sons and their wives, James and Joan Longe of Sebring, Fla. and Metcalf Pond, Vt., and Timothy and Mireille Longe of Enosburg Falls; two grandchildren and their spouses, Jill and Greg Nason of Sebring, Fla., and Jay and Paula Longe and their daughter Laura of Hardwick; a sister and her husband, Patricia and Earl Alger of Montpelier; several nieces and nephews; and his former wife, Edith Fiske of Enosburg Falls. He was predeceased by his wife, Cecile (Larivee) Longe in 1976; they were married Dec. 31, 1939, in Sheldon Springs; a daughter, Nancy Benard; a sister, Eleanor; and two brothers, Lawrence and Wesley.

In keeping with Leslie's wishes he will be cremated and a memorial service will be held Thursday, Aug. 5, 2004, at 11 a.m. at the Spears Funeral Home, 96 Dickinson Ave., Enosburg Falls. Interment will be held at the convenience of the family in the Georgia Plains Cemetery at a later date. There will be no visiting hours.
