| Obituary | OBITUARY: HIGHGATE- Carlton C. LaFrance, age 92, passed away on Sunday, September 3rd, 2023 at the Northwestern Medical Center. He was born in Highgate Springs on March 25, 1931 to the late George and Addie (Rollo) LaFrance. Carlton attended school until he found his calling to serve our country. Carlton was a dedicated and loyal member of the Navy, ARMY, and National Guard and through his service he made a significant contribution, especially during the Korean conflict. On January 14, 1956, Carlton married the love of his life, Bertha Berger, who has stood by his side for over six decades. Their life together was filled with love, laughter, and shared dreams. Outside of his professional and family life, Carlton was an active member of several esteemed organizations. He held memberships in the VFW, Disabled Vets, and the American Legion. Carlton built lifelong friendships and found support in the friendship offered by these groups. Carlton left a very positive impact on all the people who knew and loved him, he will be missed by all. He is survived by his wife Bertha; sons, Michael LaFrance and his family, and Mark LaFrance and his family; 5 grandchildren, and 6 great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. A special thank you to Dawn, Aubrey, Mary and Jim for all the care and support they gave Carlton. Carlton was predeceased by his parents, George and Addie Lafrance, and many brothers and sisters. Friends and family are invited to Carlton's Life Celebration to include visitation on Friday, September 8th, 2023, from 11-1:00PM, with a funeral service following at 1:00PM at the Goss Life Celebration Home, 89 Grand Ave. Swanton, VT 05488.
