ObituaryNov 26, 2006  OBITUARY: ENOSBURGH Eugene J. Sturgeon, age 68, passed away Saturday evening, Nov. 25, 2006, at Fletcher Allen Health Care Facility with his loving family at his side.

He was born March 11, 1938, in Sutton, Que. Canada, the son of the late Stuart and Nina (Preston) Sturgeon.

Gene was a resident of Enosburg for the past 23 years and was a former resident of Fairfield. He was employed at the Dalestead Farm in West Enosburg from 1984 to 1995, retiring due to poor health. He was also a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church. Gene enjoyed woodworking, gardening, cutting wood, mowing his lawn and was an avid bird watcher. Most of all he loved to spend time with his family.

He is survived by his wife, Shirley (Brunton) Sturgeon of West Enosburg; a daughter, Carol Benway and her husband, Earl 'Jack' of Highgate; three sons, Edward Sturgeon and his wife Ann of Enosburg, Allen Sturgeon and his wife Lori of Bakersfield, and Thomas Sturgeon and his wife Ula of St. Albans; his grandchildren, Christopher Sturgeon, Sherri Sturgeon, Frank Benway and his wife Nicole, James Benway, Allen Paradee and his fianc? Melissa Danforth, Danielle Benway, April Sturgeon, Kody Sturgeon, Charles Sturgeon, Tyler Sturgeon, and Megean Sturgeon; two great-grandchildren, Hayden and Weston Benway; a sister, Eva Elliott of Troy; his mother-in-law, Rosanna Brunton of Montgomery Center; several nieces and nephews. Besides his parents he was predeceased by three brothers, Warren, Edward and Maurice Sturgeon; and his stepfather, Garfield Brunton.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, Nov. 29, 2006, at 11 a.m. at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Enosburg Falls with Rev. Benedict Kiely celebrating the Mass of Christian Burial. Interment will follow in St. Isidore?s Cemetery in Montgomery Center.

A time of visitation will be held Wednesday from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. at the Spears Funeral Home, 96 Dickinson Ave., Enosburg Falls.
