ObituaryMar 28, 2016  OBITUARY: Stanley L. Blodgett passed away peacefully at his son Stan’s house in Eagle River, Alaska on Monday, March 21, 2016. Anyone that knew Dad would know how much he truly loved Alaska so he was where he wanted to be, surrounded by loved ones. He is survived by his son Stan (Shelley) Blodgett and their children; Danielle (Michael) Mathisen and their daughter Mariah; Ian (Sarah) Blodgett and their daughter Autumn, Eric Blodgett & Evan Blodgett; son Rodney Blodgett and his children, Rodney and Emily; his daughter Sharyn and her children; Ryan (Kayla) Chalifoux and children Conner, Corbin and Riley; Devin Meunier and his son Lincoln and Daniel Meunier. He is also survived by his brother Owen (Myrna) Blodgett and their son Randy. His partner of 40+ years, Ruby Jones and her children, Brenda (Tim) Gray and their daughters Jennifer and Samantha; Cheryl (Jeff) Vance and their sons Chad and his daughter Zakyia; and Steven; Rick Jones and his daughters Ashleigh and Jada; David Jones. He also leaves many nieces and nephews who he was very fond of. He was predeceased by his father, Mahlon Blodgett, on September 4, 1997, his mother, Phyllis (Pudvah) Blodgett on February 9, 2001, his brother, Hollis Pudvah on February 4, 1990 and his sister Carol Brothers on October 27, 1994. He also leaves special friends John & Maryann Chamberlain, Kathy & Ernie Erno and Toni Kennison.

He grew up in East Richford and on West Hill in Montgomery, VT and loved to share memories of his days on the farm. In his late teens he joined the Marines and served honorably in the Korean War. When he returned he opened MV Printers and was in business for 50 years, just retiring two years ago! Everyone knew that Dad always had coffee at a local diner and could be found at “his table” at 8 AM regardless of the weather – many business deals took place there! His greatest enjoyment came from visiting Stan and his family in Alaska. He would return and share his trip with anyone who would listen and look at his pictures and tales of family camping, fishing, bears, the Annual Alaska trail sled dog race – Iditerod and other beautiful scenic places they would drive to and camp at.

In keeping with his wishes there will not be a memorial service. His children will be gathering in Willow, Alaska and spreading his ashes on the river he loved best. (Willow Creek)
