ObituaryMar 4, 2016  OBITUARY: ST. ALBANS – Irene (Giroux) Larose, age 92, widow of Arthur P. Larose, passed away peacefully, Tuesday, March 1, 2016 at the Franklin County Rehab Facility in St. Albans after a long battle with Parkinson ’s disease.

She was born March 16, 1923 in Fairfield the daughter of the late Euclide & Delia (Rancourt) Giroux

Irene graduated from St. Mary’s High School in St. Albans in 1941 and married Arthur Larose on May 22, 1943 celebrating 50 years of marriage in 1993. Irene devoted her life to raising her family. She was an accomplished seamstress and enjoyed writing poems. Her family and friends were fortunate to have received many of her poems written especially for them. Irene also wrote her autobiography for her family which they had published for her on her 80th birthday. After raising her family, Irene & Arthur spent 30 years in Florida but she always considered Vermont her home where she returned to spend her final years.

Irene is survived by her sons and their wives, Philip & Ellen Larose, Alan & Terry Larose all of Deland, FL, Leonard & Kathy Larose, David & Diane Larose all of Franklin, and Robert & Sharon Larose of Enosburg Falls; her daughter and her husband, Anne & Andre Laroche of Franklin; 17 grandchildren, 37 great grandchildren, 9 great great grandchildren; her sisters, Rita Larose of Richford, Claire Shepard & Alicia Fredette both of St. Albans; her sisters & brothers-in-law, Henry & Velma Larose of Leominister, MA, Anita Mayhew of Richford, Remi Larose of Richford and Rosaire & Sharon Larose of Enosburg Falls; many nieces and nephews.

Besides her parents, Irene was predeceased by her husband, Arthur Larose in 1995; and her son, Mark Larose in 1966; her sisters, Annette Richards, Marge Luman & Gloria Walsh; her brother, Napoleon Bourgeois; her daughter-in-law, Mary Stone; and her sisters & brothers-in-law, Doris Bourgeois, Marie Larose, Gordon Luman, Herman Richards, Robert Walsh, Louis Shepard, Albert Larose, Ernest Larose, Gordon Mayhew & Paul Fredette.

Funeral services will be held Friday, March 11, 2016 at 11:00 AM at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, 222 Missisquoi Street, Enosburg Falls with Rev. Karl Hahr celebrating the Mass of Christian burial. Interment will follow in St. John the Baptist Cemetery.

Visiting hours will be held Thursday March 10, 2016 from 5-8 PM at the Spears Funeral Home, 96 Dickinson Avenue, Enosburg Falls.
