| Obituary | Jul 25, 2002 | OBITUARY: VIRGINIA BEACH - Edward Thomas Keesee Sr., 87, a native of Norfolk, went to be with the Lord on July 23, 2002. Edward was retired from Norfolk and Western Railroad where he worked for 40 years. He was predeceased by his daughter, Judy Redfern; his brother, Bernard Keesee; and a sister, Hazel Whitehurst. He is survived by his loving wife of 24 years, Dorothy Whitehurst Toxey Keesee; two sons, Edward Keesee Jr. of Norfolk and Artie Toxey and his wife, Rae, of Virginia Beach; a daughter, Betty Ann Downs and her husband, Tommy, of Hampton; a brother, Howard Keesee and his wife, Opal, of Texas; seven grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren. A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday in Forest Lawn Cemetery by the Rev. John W. Cole II. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at Smith and Williams Funeral Home, Kempsville Chapel. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association. Edward was a beloved husband, father and friend.
