ObituaryAug 28, 2008  OBITUARY: RICHFORD – Homer Donald Corey, 66, a resident of Troy Street in Richford passed away on Wednesday, August 27, 2008 at the Northwestern Medical Center in St. Albans with his loving wife Arlene and friend Nancy at his side.

Homer was born on July 20, 1942 in Johnson, VT, the son of Benjamin and Albena (LaRoche) Corey. Homer farmed for most of his life and had also been employed at Benjamin’s Sawmill and McDermott Trucking.

He enjoyed hunting and fishing and, especially, country music and playing his guitar and recording music. His favorite baseball team was the New York Yankees.

Surviving are Homer’s wife Arlene (Sorrell) Corey of Richford; his children, JoAnn and Isadore Bouchard of Enosburg and Melissa and John Delisle of Richford; step-children Laurie Ann VanAlstine of Newaygo, MI, William and Judy Dubois of Middleville, MI, Don and Dorothy Chalender of Charlotte, MI and Richard and Lisa Hunter, Jr. of Howard City, MI; his brothers David Merriam of Wolcott and John Merriam of Morrisville; sisters Betty Bacon of St. Augustine, FL, Betty Parrot of Fairhaven; 18 Grandchildren and 5 Great Grandchildren. Homer was predeceased by his brothers William Corey, George Corey, Benjamin Corey, Harrison Corey and Merrill Corey; and half sisters, Mabel V. Bushey, and Alice Wine.

Family and friends are invited to attend a graveside service which will be held on Monday, September 1 at 10:00AM at the Sheldon Village Cemetery in Sheldon with Pastor Patrick Hoadley officiating. In keeping with Homer’s wishes there will be no calling hours. Should friends desire, gifts in Homer’s memory may be made to the Vermont Cancer Reasearch Center, Given E213, 89 Beaumont Avenue, Burlington, VT 05405.
