ObituaryMay 14, 2010  OBITUARY: MONTGOMERY CENTER – Ronald Walter Lumbra, age 87, passed away unexpectedly, Thursday May 13, 2010 at the Northwestern Medical Center in St. Albans. He was born October 26, 1922 in Montgomery the son of the late Walter & Matilda (Donna) Lumbra. He attended school in Montgomery. In 1944 he entered the U.S. Army serving in Europe and fought in the Battle of the Bulge during WWII, receiving his honorable discharge in 1946. He worked at the Asbestos Mines, Pratt & Whitney Aircraft in Connecticut and then returned to Vermont and started the Citgo Station in Montgomery which he operated until he sold it in 1969. He then started an auto parts distribution business which he operated until he retired in 1986. He was a member of St. Isidores Catholic Church and a 65 year member of the Catholic Order of Foresters. He loved gardening, watching the Boston Red Sox, and his old Cub Cadet Tractor. He is survived by his wife, Eva (Lortie) Lumbra of Montgomery Center. Ronald & Eva were married on August 8, 1949. He is also survived by his children, Ronnie Lumbra his wife Mitzi and their children, Casi & Evan of Rye, NY, Lori Stewart her husband Ryan and their children, Darian & Samantha of Lyndon, and Gary Lumbra his wife Bobbi Jo and their children, Colby Tanner, Issac, Emily & Natalie of Montgomery Center; his sister, Lorraine Gillis of Montgomery Center; a sister-in-law, Millie Lumbra of Bangor, ME; several nieces and nephews. Besides his parents he was predeceased by his brothers, Roy Lumbra and his wife Theresa, Arthur Lumbra and his wife Audrey, Allen Lumbra, Oscar Lumbra and his wife Floris, and Austin Lumbra and his wife Alberta; his sisters, Viola Tanner and her husband Leo, and Martha Ploof and her husband Rolland. A Mass of Christian burial will be held Monday, May 17, 2010 at 11:00 AM at St. Isidores Catholic Church in Montgomery Center. Interment will follow in St. Isidores Cemetery. Visiting hours will be held Sunday from 3-6 PM at the Spears Funeral Home, 96 Dickinson Ave., Enosburg Falls.
