ObituaryDec 15, 2012  OBITUARY: RICHFORD – Thomas C. Sartwell, age 83, passed away Friday, December 14, 2012 at the Northwestern Medical Center in St. Albans after a long illness. He was born June 13, 1929 in Cambridge the son of the late Charles & Stella (Laplant) Sartwell. Tom served in the United States Navy and Vermont National Guard. He was a member of the American Legion in Richford Post #12. Throughout Tom’s working career he was a car salesman for Champlain Motors, a mechanic for Handy Motors in Swanton and retired as a licensed electrician for Boise-Cascade. He was a very talented man and built his home, including the plumbing, electric and cabinets. Tom had a very competitive spirit and that would show every time he would try and beat his wife in a game of golf. He also enjoyed bowling and the occasional bingo game. He married Patricia (Rice) Sartwell in 1948, they raised 3 children together. Patricia passed away in 1991. After her passing Thomas married his brother Alfred’s widow, Anita (Taylor) Sartwell. Thomas and Anita were a loving couple and true soul mates. Their love bonded their families and made a home of peace and love. Tom is survived by his wife, Anita Sartwell of Richford; children, Michael Sartwell and his wife Judy of Montgomery, Christal Boutin and her husband Paul of Barton and Timothy Sartwell and his wife Sue of Franklin; step-children, Anita Sartwell and her fiancé Steve Weir, Patricia Sartwell and her husband Rob and Alfred Sartwell and his wife Tasha; several grandchildren & great grandchildren; his brothers, Jason Sartwell and his wife Claireta of Swanton and Miles Sartwell of Highgate and many nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, Tommy was predeceased by his first wife, Patricia Sartwell; sons, Thomas Jr. and Peter Sartwell; his brothers, Alfred and Charles Sartwell; his sisters, Suzie Bocash, Mary Brace, Gertrude Menard, Velma Sartwell and Hazel Bosley. Funeral Services will be held Tuesday, December 18, 2012 at 11:00 AM at the Spears Funeral Home, 96 Dickinson Ave., Enosburg Falls, VT 05450 with Pastor Patrick Hoadley officiating. Interment will follow in the Rice Hill Cemetery, Rice Hill Rd., Sheldon. A time of visitation will be held Monday evening at the funeral home from 5-8 PM.
